  1. Mike Schmidt used to be of the opinion to not vote for anyone on the vet ballot. He's since changed his mind, so mayber there's another vote.
  2. Care to offer a comparison to the last regime? Lou has used my name more in the Fitch Park portion of spring training than Dusty did in four years. And I'm not exaggerating on that one. sounds like lou has read "How to Win Friends and Influence People." Philosophies taught in that book / course would definitely carry over to a major league team --- there's too many egos to deal with for them not to.
  3. my prediction: Alomar gets the nod at 2b. So called experts break out the ol' "Sandberg never dove for the ball" routine. That, or Maz gets the nod because of that famous homer.
  4. directv just lost out on a new customer. i'll be keeping dishnetwork and going back to mlb.tv.
  5. I'm a complete dummy, but I figured out how to do a torrent thing. My son broke my disc 1 and I thought I was going to have to go the ebay route :)
  6. To me, Wrigley loses alot of luster at this point. For me, it's 10+ hours to go to Chicago. I can see the Cubs in Houston (6 hours) or St Louis (7 hours). The desire to drive all the way to chicago is just about gone. I guess it could be the first steps to doing away with Wrigley. I'd still be a Cub fan, no doubt about it. Maybe it's a step to a new stadium and thus a new organizational philosophy. Who knows. You know what makes me sad? The fact that my son will not be able to see the true Wrigley Field. I don't think that should go into their thinking regarding ads and such, but it is still the truth and it still sucks to me.
  7. Eh, not so much. It's not like he's going to K that many. how about if he K's Sosa in Texas :)
  8. it would kick ass if Marquis did the heart-heart-kiss thing after every strikeout.
  9. Red Barron/Ryno... is that you!?!? It must be! How's Arkansas? 'tis I. . . . the man. . . .the myth. . . the legend Which of my long lost IFF are you?
  10. In July 2001, I sat next to the president and lone member of the Robert Machado fan club. The guy kept telling his little brother how awesome machado was. . . . was sickening.
  11. baseballs don't wear uniforms, so what difference does it make what temperature they are?
  12. This is why all players should play in jocks and cleats ---- only.
  13. i guess we no longer need soriano to lead off :)
  14. cool man. I appreciate it. I hope we're able to see all you guys at the game(s). I may let you carry Ryne around and try to snag an autograph or photo with Murton --- he likes Matt.
  15. Vance, can you get those seats for game 2 or 3? I don't necessarily need the discount. My folks like the idea of the premium seating for at least one game. . . there would be 4 of us.
  16. Name one NL team that has no question marks. Name one that's solid at every position. There aren't any. Face it guys, the Cubs have just as good a chance to win the NL this year as anyone else. I'd rather not hear about how we have to make up X number of wins because that is just not the case. That would be the case if all of last year's roster was being brought back. Every team, including the Yanks and BoSox have to have a good combination of solid play and health to be successful. The cubs are no different. That's not my bold prediction that the cubs will win the NL. I have no idea if it will happen. However, I cannot say that the Cardinals or anyone else is head and shoulders above the cubs for the upcoming year.
  17. If Clemens is my teammate and he's pulling this "i'm not gonna pitch til may" bullcrap, I'd just as well kick his selfish ass as to support him.
  18. Got any for game 2 or 3? I think I could talk the family into doing this one of those days.
  19. Weird. We sat in the LF seats back in '99 and got lots of interaction with the visitors. I even got lucky and snagged a couple of homerun BP balls. You are right --- I forgot about the sun setting in your eyes.
  20. I want LF seats -- first row if possible. A cute 4 year old is bound to be a hit with the players :)
  21. I'm taking Ryne to this series --- his first "real" Cub game. My mom and dad will be there too. Hope to see you guys there. When do the tix go on sale?
  22. Raffy played in 86 as well. . .. .I'm just sayin ;)
  23. I know it was 87, but isn't that the same year Cindy had a thing for guys with moustaches? Ha! I never thought of it that way. . . . I wouldn't be surprised. Ryno is a stand up guy. He'd do anything to save his marriage. I wonder if he spoke with a hispanic accent that season?
  24. The pic is from 87. . ..his "RBI" year. That and I've always thought the ryno-stache was funny and / or cool.
  25. Man, don't you know. You and I are supposed to go to all the Cardinal, Royals, Astro, and Ranger games. We can't take money out of the poor teams' pockets by watching on TV from lil' ol' Arkansas.
