  1. Gil Grissom: Oh, man things will be great, blah blah blah. Marlins: BAM, HOME RUN Gil Grissom: This team is better than this. They're good. It'll be okay Marlins: DOUBLE DOWN THE LINE Gil Grissom: Aww, screw it.
  2. Gil Grissom for 7th Inning Stretch Conductor- -- FULL TIME.
  3. I don't understand the alleged correlation between batting average and home runs.
  4. I think he's better suited as a relief pitcher. Just think, he may give up some runs, but he'd make up for it with his bat. You'd never have to double switch or pinch hit him. He has a good arm, so he'd probably throw hard. I think it's a no-brainer.
  5. Does he need glasses? Is his brain really made of poo? You know, the obvious "ump" questions :)
  6. I can't tell you what number homer it will be, but I can guarantee you that Eyre gives up a homer to bonds :)
  7. I've followed baseball since 1983. Manager's (save for Dusty Baker) rarely make or break a team. The problem with the Cubs (team and organization) has never been the manager. It's always been the numbnuts running the show. Dallas Green had the right idea, but higher ups ran him off.
  8. Joe is probably a better relief pitcher than Lou, but neither could get anyone out.
  9. I'll play devil's advocate. The Cubs are hovering around 5 games out. Very attainable. Maybe Lou understands that Eyre is complete ass. Maybe Hendry doesn't agree. If Lou continues to run him out there, maybe Hendry will see the light and release him. I have a hard time believing that any sane baseball man can look at Eyre's stats for the 2nd half last year and the ones for this season and say that he's a quality reliever. He's trash. He's done. I just wonder who's the primary guy holding on to him. . . . is it Lou or is it Hendry? Before you answer, remember that Lou made some "AAA" comments when this crap really started hitting the fan. I think Lou wants to make changes but Hendry isn't allowing it.
  10. I'm in the early May (Pirates / Nats / Pirates) part of my MLB 07 Franchise. The Cubs are good then. It's time for me to escape. . . . . . .
  11. anyone having mlb.com trouble? I can't even bring up the darn site.

    Wood?

well, if his earned runs can be less than or equal to his innings pitched, he'll be the ace of the 'pen.
  13. well, there's a first time for everything. . . . oh, wait, nevermind :(
  14. Cause playing for a single run when it's a tie in the top of the 9th is a horrible idea? But even Lou had to know that the DP was gonna happen :)
  15. why not PH Marquis there and get the sac bunt?
  16. What if it in this context: Following Eyre's release, the left hander said, "You just have to tip your cap to the organization. They were good to me for a couple of years and I'm thankful. Maybe I'll catch on with another club."
  17. Guys, it's my fault. they flashed the SD / Mil score and I thought, "wow, we could be just 4 games out if we win". . . . .. . BOOM. . . HOMER!!!
  18. I'm sure this is a terrible terrible terrible reason, but here goes. . . . In my mlb07 season, Soriano was dominating but not getting many RBI. One problem was that he was dependant upon the 6-8 spots getting on for RBI chances. Typicall, his chances were with 2 outs (occasionally with 1, but very rarely with none out). That means, there were virtually no sac flies, ground outs, etc that pushed a run across. Also, he rarely had any kind of proetction behind him so I found myself trying to hit junk pitches in his RBI spots. Very tough. My solution was to hit him 2nd or 3rd. It helped a bunch, but alas, it is but a video game :( Oh, the bullpen blows in the video game, too.
  19. The Dodgers have a winning record? I can only guess they have the best pitching staff in the league.
  20. they're teasing us. also, mad props to Cruz for going with the stirrups. He's one of my favorite players just because of that.
  21. The best thing for Matt Murton is to get as far away from this god forsaken ballclub and get away as fast as he can.
