  1. I have bleacher tickets for the Sunday game against the Marlins. I'm taking the wife and my 8 year old daughter, who knows nothing about baseball. I have taken the Devry shuttle before and it's very convenient. What I want to know is, if she gets bored or its a blowout, does the shuttle run back to Devry prior to the ending of the game, or do we have to wait it out. The way they are playing, I'm almost tempted to sell the tickets.
  2. Lou definately had a short fuse when it came to Hill tonight. On his pregame with Ronnie, you could tell he was still p.o.'d about Thursday's game. Then he really emphasized about Hill just needs to pitch and he's going to him the chance. After 4 walks in the first, Lou had seen enough. I thought 4 walks is normally a quick hook, but I think Lou really has had it with some of the pitchers. So.....do you think Hill gets sent down, or do you think he goes to the pen. I think he's going down to get himself straight, Leiber goes into the rotation, and someone like Ascanio or Gallagher gets the callup.
  3. For all of you who play EA Sports MVP2005, get over to MVPmods.com to download the newest mod for the 2007 season. It is just awesome work done by some very dedicated people. If you didn't know, EA sports stopped having the licensing agreement with MLB after that game came out. These modders have kept the series fresh and up to date with accurate rosters and more. I just started my new season and the 2nd game, I had a 3-0 lead against the Reds going into the 8th. Lilly pitching very good. The Reds scored 7 runs in the 8th off of Wood, Ohman and Dempster to take the lead 7-3. The Cubs score 5 runs in the 9th to lead 8-7. The Reds scratch out a run with an infield hit by Griffey. 8-8 going into the 10th. Brandon Phillips hits a 2 run jack in the 10th off Eyre to win it 10-8. Even though I lost, a very fun game. With Spring Training starting, I just had to get my baseball fix. Just thought I would let all of you know of this great new mod. I don't quite have my Cubbie Swagger just yet.
  4. Kudos to John Paxson for setting his mind to what he wants and going out and getting it. He knew he may have to overpay for what he wants, but at least he goes out on the limb and gets it. Hendry only overpays for garbage like Perez and Rusch. I don't think Pax would have let Rafael Furcal get away over 2 or 3 mil a year like Hendry did. Also Pax gave Wallace a time frame to work with, then that was it. At least he wasn't left holding the bag like Hendry sometimes does while waiting for the free agents to make up their mind. Paxson and Kenny Williams have be the 2 best GM's in town. I'm really looking forward to the basketball season, since our baseball season is over.
  5. Would Ozzie have a better record with this Cubs team than Dusty. What do you think he would do different? Also, could Dusty win with the Sox team they have now. The first thing he probably would do is trade for Neifi.
  6. we would be doing back flips if the Cubs had that record.
  7. You know how bad it gets. I actually turned off the the Cubs on the radio, and turned on the Sox. I'm not a Sox fan, but at least that team seems to have a clue and a manager who isn't afraid to say when one of his players stinks.
  8. I don't understand how we could look so good for 7-10 days, batting over .300, then all of a sudden we revert back to our old ways. I was listening briefly tonight, and barrett just got a nice single to put runners on 1st and 3rd, and walker swings at the 1st pitch. Has this team ever heard of waiting for your pitch? This team is so damn frustrating. Also, how many crappy pitchers are we going to make look like Cy Young. Bronson Arroyo should thank his lucky stars he faces the Cubs. He now has 8 wins, 3 against the Cubs. Arroyo, Zach Duke, Jason Schmidt, Cris Carpenter all kill the Cubs. At least Schmidt and Carpenter are good. But I'm just sick of the other rag arm pitchers who have a career day against us. Just like Samson yesterday. Don't we have scouting reports on these rookie pitchers? One more rant. I am so sick of hearing from management about 2003, and we were 5 outs away from the World Series. Theres like 3 players left from that team. It's in the past, get over it. And this comparing us to Houston last year. Are you kidding me? This team would have to play like 30 games over .500 to get there. Okay, I'm done. I feel better now. I just had to vent.
  9. Bruce, I gotta tell you. You are one of the reasons I keep my Herald subscription. Your articles are usually right on. I also think it is so cool that you take time to drop in here every once in awhile. You never see Paul Sullivan do that. Not that we'd want him too anyways. His pieces are garbage. Thanks Bruce.
  10. After Matt Murton's great start yesterday, when was last player you can remember who was called up and immediatly made an impact. Every rookie I remember with the Cubs always struggles when called up. Tuffy Rhodes doesn't count. He wasn't called up or our prospect. I remember Lance Dickson going 4-0, then having arm problems.
