    We were outbid for Beltran. It's not like Hendry said, "well, we were outbid, so now I can focus my attention on signing Ted Lilly and Jason Marquis in 3 years." It just doesn't work that way.

    Marquis may or may not be a terrible signing. The thing is that no matter who the Cubs sign, there will be a group of fans who think it "sucks." It will be for a terrible player. . . or the contract is too long. . .. or the money is too much. We truly won't know the effectiveness of the signings until the season is complete.

    after all the big signings, the media will be all over the Cubs. The cubs will become media darlings. Of course, they'll be predicted to win the NL.. . . . .it doesnt mean they will.

    The Met pitching staff doesn't look any better than the Cubs (right now). If Schmidt is signed, the Cubs will be the favorites for the NL pennant.

    It's a crime tha will clark is not on the ballots. He's a hall of famer in my book (granted, it's a very liberal book) I also can't see why Trammell isn't a HOFer.

    David Ortiz would have stolen 15 bags just because of the era? No way. Gwynn stole bags because he was much much smaller, much much faster, and simply a smart baserunner. Gwynn was 10 times the player McGwire was (just my opinion).

    Just got back from the game. . . . wow, it was a barn burner. If our WRs could beat their man and if Dick could have thrown a couple decent passes, we coulda pulled that one out. Oh well, you can't win em all. The Hogs were predicted to finish 4th in the SEC W. . . a 10 win season and a legit shot at the Sugar Bowl is nothing to be ashamed of. I swear, Nutt acts like he has to go for two followin a PAT miss. He's been doing this crap for years. I don't think you should go for 2 until the 4th quarter. I sincerely hope McFadden gets an invite to NYC for the Heisman ceremony. After his performance today, he's earned it.

    If this is true, I can only hope that they replacing Jones with Floyd and hoping to bring in Pie in 2008. Otherwise, it's bye bye Matt Murton and that really sucks.
