  1. A bad decision. Why not have him DH and Bellinger at 2st. Why not forget him all together and go Madrigal at 3rd and Candelario at 1st?
  2. I get it. I never really ever bought “grandstand” seats before I got season tickets. The view is perfect and being under the roof a little does help on very hot or rainy days. Honestly I wouldn’t change my seats for any other section. Great value for what you get.
  3. Absolutely. You can do that anytime. As I said I can also put you on an email list to send out dates I will sell. Got 2 in that section. Going a Monday, actually. Then the following week going to a game against the Giants and then Friday against the diamondbacks. Only in Chicago for 2 more weeks.
  4. 223 row 9. Back when I was a kid those were called grandstands. Now they are terrace reserve preferred. First base side betwee home and first. Perfect view of the entire park with no obstructions. The roof overhang is just enough to keep us dry during rainy days yet we are close enough forward so that the roof doesn’t hinder a view of a fly ball. Neither the roof nor the poles obstruct our view of anything. I have relocated 2 times to get to these seats. But that was year 2 and 3, back before the 14 and then 15 season. Been here ever since and won’t move.
  5. It’s a lot of work still. But I network the best I can. When I go I always ask whoever is sitting next to me how they got their seats and do they come often. If they say they go to 4 or 5 games a year and buy through the box office or even a secondary market I ask them if they like the seats and would they be interested in me sending them a list of games I have available. I have good seats so no one is ever disappointed. I explain they are cheaper than the box office. I have added two people that way. I send a list out early and have people pick games. Then put the rest on the secondary market. When the Cubs were good I would charge a little over my price but cheaper than the box office. Had no issues with that. But as I said, it is work. You have to stay on it. They are not going to sell themselves. As far as that goes if anyone here goes to a few games a year and needs a pair let me know. I am now selling at only my cost. I can put you on a list for next year.
  6. I am fine if he moves on. Just not sure he does. And if he doesn’t it is because he is unsure of his value in the open market. So not like the Cubs could trade him. They need to hope he has a 1 year “prove it contract year”. And if he comes back and does pitch well, I would be fine with that team being the Cubs if they can get him for 4 years. I think you are giving too much emphasis on the Cubs not wanting to extend him. That was before the deadline and TBH they were not sure if they were in the race. Actually it was more likely they would sell. So of course they wouldn’t extend him before selling. And then right before the deadline he started struggling. Not going to extend then either.
  7. If Stoman comes back and is healthy and does play the last year of his contract he is fine at $21M next year. But I agree they can also get another pitcher and it could be cia a trade. Sign Bellinger and trade a corner outfielder for a MOR starter. Works for me.
  8. But the line up isn’t desperate for power. Since the ASB they are second in baseball in home runs. Over the long haul, maybe they could use more power. But right now they don’t. IMO PCA add away more than Canario. Honestly with Morel struggling and the clock striking midnight on Tauchman, I would love to see PCA up and in the line up now.
  9. For me, best case scenario is sign Bellinger and look into dealing Happ or Suzuki for either a first baseman or MOR pitcher. Probably the pitcher. Move Bellinger to right and whoever you don’t trade plays left. PCA play center. I think the Cubs could justify paying too dollar for Bellinger with the thought of moving him to right and have him also as insurance if PCA struggles Best case scenario is a 3 team trade where Happ goes so somewhere. Alonzo comes here and prospects go to the Mets. Before anyone responds to this point, I know it isn’t happening. . Just dreaming.
  10. Well there is a difference in signing Bellinger and the. PCA does become a solid bat and signing Bellinger, Ohtani, Chapman and trading to Alonso and then figuring out where to play them. There is no guarantee PCA becomes a solid player. If he does then yiu have a nice problem. Yiur scenario wouldn’t happen. Not going to spend that money. However I do get your point on if Belli is signed the. Cubs might need to look into dealing PCA. That would be interesting. So they go for another prospect in a prospect for prospect trade. Maybe PCA for a prospect arm? Maybe a top 3rd baseman. Or does he go for a proven Major league talent? Never thought of doing that, but it is interesting.
  11. So if no Bellinger and Ohtani gets out of control on pricing, who do they go get? I think if they can sign Bellinger they do it. PCA isn’t a lock to be a stud. And if he is they can move Bellinger. Put him in the corner outfield and deal either Suzuki or Happ for a MOR starter. Honesty it is a nice problem to have having too many good hitters. Honestly Bellinger gives them. Lot of options. That has value too.
  12. If Stoman comes back and the cubs sign Bellinger and Candelario they aren’t going to spend another $24M a year for 5+ years on another starter. I agree they need someone else, but it won’t be a TOR guy. They won’t spend that money. Might be looking at another Taillon deal. Maybe Montgomery or if ERod opts out, him.
  13. That pitcher you are referring to might be Stroman. With his injury he might not try free agency. If he does I doubt they spend on someone else too.
  14. So assuming PCA comes up do you have no interest in Bellinger this off season? Not like the cubs have a sure fire first baseman. I tend to think they will give Mervis a chance. But even if he is good, there is room for him and Bellinger. If PCA locks down center the DH can come from Happ, Suzuki, Bellinger and Mervis. Actually if both PCA and Mervis succeed that is a nice problem to have.
  15. I want them to win the division as well. But I would take a wild card berth and at least winning one series. At least the last 5+ weeks of the season matter.
  16. I definitely like Boog with JD. As for the other guys that fill in for JD, Girardinis ok, but Sutcliffe is a joke. Too positive about everything. To me, Boog is fine. Honestly I barely notice the pbp calls. To me they are all similar so I don’t get too high or low on announcers. But I do like JD and his relationship with Boog to discuss things other than the pbp.
  17. I can’t worry about the other teams. Cubs just have to worry about themselves. I think if they win 20 of the last 36 games they make the playoffs. Can’t worry about every game being played. No reason the Cubs can’t win that many. Still have 13 left with the Pirates and Rockies and no one on the schedule who is a super team (except the Braves who may clinch by the time they play the cubs). Probably won’t get them the division, but it will get them a spot in the playoffs. Basically they need to play at a 90 win pace against a softer schedule then most others they are competing with. If they can’t do that they don’t deserve to be in the playoffs anyway.
  18. I moved to Arizona. So now 2 of the people who used to buy from me share my seats. So now I have 27 games. I come to Chicago for 6 to 8 weeks during the baseball season ( in Chicago now) and fo to 10 games. I sell the other 17. No issues.
  19. I have enjoyed my experience. Been a full season STH since 2013. 200 section in the infield. Great view of the park and protection from the elements. After 13 and 14 I have never lost money. I have a good group of people who buy from me, I used to go to around 25-30 games and then the rest I sell on stubhub. When you add your savings on the games you go to versus losing on some sales, I still end up ahead.
  20. Yet he has a pen full of overworked arms. How can both be correct. He leaves starters in too long AND pen arms get too many innings! I will say he does have way too long a leash with Smyly. Seems he has kept him in several games too long and it has hurt them. In this particular game I didn’t think he should take Tallion out. Fact is, who does he have?
  21. Tallion has been decent lately as well. But I agree, the rotation is a problem.
  22. I am not a fan either. Hope he proves us both wrong.
  23. Would have meant more had you suggested they should take Tallion out before the homer. Just feels result bias to me. And I think you would have posted the opposite had Merryweather came in and given up the homer. That would have been Ross’ fault as well.
  24. Sure, if they had a good lefty I can see the move. But as you said it is hindsight. Has Ross put in Merryweather and he gave up the slam the comment wouks have been Ross shouldn’t have taken Taillion out.
  25. That’s not on Ross. He got 2 out and was one batter away from getting out of it. I didn’t want to see Merryweather either. Tallion earned the chance to get out of it.
