  1. So who pitches and keeps Rockies scoreless. This is the rough part.
  2. Just going to say it….. PCA catches Bryant’s ball.
  3. In fairness the umpire blew the strike 3 call on the first batter. Should have been a 3 up 3 down inning. And the pitch was well in the zone.
  4. Why? Wisdom isn’t going into the game. They need someone to play center. Unless wisdom went to first and Bellinger to center why not put PCA in for Wisdom? He wasn’t going to play the field anyway. I get everyone wants to criticize EVERYTHING Ross does, but putting PCA in wasn’t stupid.
  5. Did Suzuki even get tagged. Why not look at that one. 1-0 is good, at least. Suzuki on fire!!!!
  6. Aren’t the brewers something like 10-3 against the Reds. I think they would rather play the reds than the Cubs.
  7. What is his option? Is there any chance his agent convinced him he could get a 3 year $20M total? Would he take that over the one year with the Cubs?
  8. Well I agree I want the Braves to win. But beteeen the Marlins, Reds, dbacks and Phillies if one team did win, I would want it to be the Phillies. But I get the idea of the Braves clinching early.
  9. Why do we care about the Phillies. I think we need to give that dream up. They are 4 back. We need the Mets and Reds to lose as well as the dbacks. Accept 5th or 6th spot and hope for the best. They aren’t getting #4 and they aren’t winning the division.
  10. What always amazes me about these discussions is the overreaction one way or another of the people who pride themselves in being knowledgeable about the game. Why is everyone so shocked this team is slumping. This is and has always been a low to mid 80’s win team. With a little good luck maybe upper 80’s. With bad fortune, high 70’s. A slump was inevitable. It was going to be now or in the playoffs. Regardless of them playing .640 ball for a 1/3rd of the season the end result was always going to be a team fighting for a playoff spot. At the start of this season if I was asked if I would be happy to be in a 4 way race for 2 spots in the playoffs with 12 games to go, I would have said yes. Now they might not make it. I get that. And that would suck. But these teams that won all weekend can just as easily lose 7 or 8 of their next 11,12, or 13 games left. In fact, since these other teams are no different than the Cubs and basically average teams nothing that happens the rest of the season should really surprise anyone. It is baseball. Any team can beat any other team, PERIOD!
  11. I agree. This idea people won’t choose the cubs is actually ridiculous. If the Cubs make the best offer they will sign anyone they want. The issue is, they probably won’t make the top offer. If Ohtani doesn’t come here it is because the Cubs were not the best offer. Which is most likely what will happen.
  12. Another 4-6 versus others going 6-4 and they are out. They need to start playing better. At the very least they need 5-3 the next 8. If not, I don’t see them making it.
  13. In April/may I stayed at an Airbnb on Roscoe and Wolcott. Went to 8 games. Let’s split the difference, it was 1.25 miles. Yes, just west of Ravenswood you can park for free. But that is only a block from Wolcott. Used to be able to park just west of Southport, but now that is permit parking. ,
  14. Depending on your physical condition and how much time you have you can always park for free. You just have to park 1.5 miles from the park. Typically I park around Wolcott and Roscoe. Roscoe is only a few blocks south of Addison, but Wolcott is over 1 mile from the park. The positive of parking there is if you go to a day game there are a lot of good bars that you pass on your way to the car and Roscoe west of Wolcott has a lot of very good restaurants for an early dinner. Used to love the 3PM starts using this strategy. After the game go to dinner at 7. Now with quicker games it isn’t as good. But we do still park that far out. I used to go to 25 games a year. Paying $40 to $50 to park for all those games adds up. So we park for free and walk a bit. Part of my exercise for that day.
  15. Not all terrace reserve are created equal. My seats are terrace reserve preferred, which means rows 7 thru 13 in the infield. I have row 9 section 223 and can see everything. Piles could be a problem in some of those terrace reserve preferred, but a seat there with no pole is a great seat. I also do enjoy the upper deck box. That is where I used to sit before I got season tickets. But for the money and for resale value I will take mine all day over upper deck box.
  16. When you put it this way, I like their chances. With their schedule there is no reason they shouldn’t at least go 7-8 / 8-7. I don’t see two teams behind them playing better than .600 ball to finish the season. They really should take 2 of 3 this weekend. Then at home they should win 4 of 6. That means one win against Braves or brewers (who will each not be playing for anything). They should be able to do that. And, if they can’t, they don’t deserve to be in the playoffs anyway.
  17. In the true sense of the words “must series” I agree the Cubs don’t have to win it. Just don’t get swept. However, with the way the pitching matches up the cubs really should take 2 of 3, if not sweep the dbacks. They don’t “technically” have to. But they really should.
  18. What FA in his 20’s is anyone getting for 3 years? If they got Alonso what do you think he costs to extend? And for how many years are yiu willing to do for Alonso? Why only 3 years for Bellinger?
  19. I don’t think it means that at all. They probably want a right handed bat off the bench. That wouldn’t be Mervis. I think with Candelario going down the choice was either PCA or Mervis. They went PCA over Mervis. But PCA helps them defensively and on the bases. So not a surprise they went with him.
  20. Maybe Candelario will miss a few. But maybe Ross wants Wisdom in this one. If there is ever a game to get Wisdom in this is the one. Not a hard throwing lefty in Coors. I predict a long one from Wisdom. If they are leading after 6 or a righty comes in, I would expect PCA to come to play center and Bellinger to move to first.
  21. I think pitchers have to be on the Il 15 days
  22. Why? Fulmer had the exact same thing. Probably a little tender so they are shutting him down for a bit. Pitchers have to be on for 15 days. So back 9/25 if all goes well.
  23. That sucks. Boy they just don’t make it easy. So when can Alzolay come back? Last week of the year?
  24. Don’t like 1-3 against dbacks, but it was a 4-3 week. If they can do 4-2 the next 2 weeks they should be fine. 9 against bad teams and the 3 against the dbacks, they won’t face Gallen or Kelly.
