  1. Well if comedy is the step after acceptance, then I at comedy as well.

Brandon Roy goes to Minnesota. I like this pick and think Roy will be a VERY good player in the NBA.

At least the Hawks have their Lottery pick. They may not make the right choice, but at least there is a possiblity they make the right choice. The Knicks don't even have the chance to make a bad pick.
  4. soccer10k

They do only have 5 minutes in between picks unlike the NFL where they have 15 minutes. Makes it a little harder to get everybody in that wants to talk. So why not do it at 2 minutes 30 seconds, instead of 45 seconds? That leaves plenty of time. They have to discuss the previous pick and allow Stephen A. and Greg Anthony to talk. Stuart Scott has to interview the previous pick.

Por que? To simplify, tools over actual skills/production, and overhype based on a couple games. Not agreeing or disagreeing with you but there is always a player or two that sends his draft stock through the roof with his play in the NCAA tournament.

  7. I'm getting really tired of Ozzie, really fast.

Morrison goes to Charlotte. No surprise there.

Get more than they would by just taking their guy at 2 when they can have him at 4. If they are trading for Thomas though they'll regret it. Not high on Tyrus Thomas TT?
  10. soccer10k

Sounds like the Bulls are going to trade the #2 to Portland for the #4 pick. Portland will get Aldredge and the Bulls will likely get Tyrus Thomas.

I bet Stu asks him about Dirk during this interview. God I hate comparisons. Every shooting guard is compared to MJ. Bargnani is being compared to Dirk. They even compared Randy Foye to Dwayne Wade.
  12. Hmm... A guy with a 6.08 ERA this year. That sounds like a 6-1 loss to me.
  13. Here are the Quarterfinal games and schedule: Friday June 30 Germay v Argentina at 8 AM PT on ESPN Italy v Ukraine at 12 PM PT on ESPN 2 Saturday July 1 England v Portugal at 8 AM PT on ABC Brazil v France at 12 PM PT on ESPN The winners of the matches on each day will play each other. So the semifinals will be: Germany/Argentina v Italy/Ukraine England/Portugal v Brazil/France
  14. Good. It's about time they did something. They should give a red card to the ref that did the US-Italy game as well.
  15. Pierre homered today so Hendry's probably typing up an extention now.
  16. I'm not measuring his worth with games played numbers. I'm refuting the claim that he averages 30/105, which is just not true. Fair enough. And I agree with you in the 30/105 point you made.
  17. That's the problem, he doesn't average 30/105 per season. He averages that per 162 games played, but he's only played 162 once. He's only surpassed the 100 RBI mark twice. Anybody could drive in 100 RBI in the middle of even a mediocre lineup. That's no accomplishment. Carlos is a good hitter. But he's far from great. And he has some serious drawbacks to his offensive game, more than Dunn. That's not exactly a good way to measure a players worth. He's played 150+ games in 5 of 7 seasons. I would take Dunn though. Lee hasn't put up a .900+ OPS in a season yet and he's 30 (although he is on pace for his first this year). Dunn put up a .900+ OPS the last two years, is on pace for another this year and put one up in 244 AB's in 2001 and he's only 26.
  18. You shouldn't want one or the other. You should want the more productive hitter, which is Abreu. Don't fill roster spots with stereotypes. That's how you end up with guys like Pierre. This team would be very well off with Abreu hitting 4th, or 3rd, or 5th, or 2nd, or 6th. You want your #4 hitter to be a power guy. What else do you put there? I'm not stereotyping the roster. All I said is that I didn't think Abreu should hit fourth. I realize he has a great OBP so bat him leadoff or second. But I want a guy that is going to hit the ball and hit it hard batting fourth. Batting fourth CLee > Abreu.
  19. Why not? Neither is a franchise player. No bullpen is going to carry a team. They are both older players with up and down pasts. And we know relievers have a short shelf life and are inconsistent. It would be negligent to turn down a trade that would better the ballclub just because we think these guys are the key to any future success. Everybody should be available for the right place, and these guys aren't close to the Zambrano/Lee area, let alone the Ramirez/Prior zone. Then allow me to fix my statement. If we get a great deal for either Howry or Eyre then do it. But it has to be a great deal where the Cubs are clearly getting the better of the deal. Very few relievers are franchise players. If you have a solid bullpen it can really help your team. A good bullpen can be the difference between making and missing the playoffs (see 2004 when Hawkins blew 9 saves and the Cubs missed the playoffs by 3 games).
  20. Why does Carlos Lee scare you but Abreu doesn't? Abreu is 32 and CLee is 30. I don't see why one would scare you but the other wouldn't. Because Abreu is a much better player. You don't know if he is going to continue to be better though. Both are likely to dropoff in the next few years as they get older. As I said before, it depends on what type of player you want. If you want a guy that's going to get on base, then by all means, go for Abreu. But if you want a #4 hitter, than Carlos Lee is your guy. I'm not opposed to either player but I don't want the Cubs to sign Abreu to be a big time power guy.
  21. Why does Carlos Lee scare you but Abreu doesn't? Abreu is 32 and CLee is 30. I don't see why one would scare you but the other wouldn't.
  22. 1. I would part with Prior for someone like Tejada in return but I wouldn't get rid of him just to do so. 2. I wouldn't mind seeing Carlos Lee in the middle of the order. Between Abreu and Lee, the choice comes down to whether you want SLG or OBP. Lee has the higher SLG but Abreu has a higher OBP. Make your pick. 3. While I would like Zito, for the money he's going to command I don't think he's worth it. I wouldn't be surprised if the Yankees/Angels/Dodgers outbid the Cubs 4. Trade Jacque while he's high. 5. Get rid of Neifi 6. We could trade Dempster for the right price but I wouldn't allow Howry and Eyre to be touched.
  23. There is no way the Cubs get a winning streak going. They'll lose but Prior will pitch well.
  24. Was there a 400 mph wind blowing out to right today or did they let Pierre hit from the middle of right field? I mean, how else would he hit a HR?
