  1. Don't give me the attack the poster crap, you decided to talk about ignorance. Nevin's career is enough to justify not playing him everyday right now. Somebody said he's driving in runs and giving the Cubs a better chance right now, and that's just not true. You decided to talk about just against RHP, but that's not the discussion. Nevin has faced lefties this past week. Furthermore, you need to let kids fight through tough stretches as they develop. You don't need to give 35 year olds who have sucked for 2 years time to fight through stretches. It seems like Warren agrees with you in that Murton should be given the chance to work through his stretches with his statement "you won't hear a peep from me if Murton plays every game the rest of the season." But allowing Murton to struggle for a while is not going to help the team win now, which is the debate. Nevin gives the team the best chance to win right now. I agree with you in that Murton should be playing. The season is lost anyway so just let him play. I've said the same thing about letting Guzman/Hill/Ryu/Marmol get starts to gain experience. Same goes for Murton. But the way Dusty sees it, Nevin is his guy.
  2. Over/Under on 1.5 red cards for the Germany/Argentina match? I'm going over.
  3. He definately showed some improvement this week. He did look like the old Prior at times but his stuff was on and off. He made a coupld mistakes and got penalized for them. His line could have looked better but it could have definately looked worse if a couple breaks didn't go his way (mainly like bsucubsfan said the two double plays immediately following the leadoff walks). I also agree with TheMojoPin in his assessment that Prior looks like he is still in Spring Training mode. He showed flashes of brilliance but wasn't always in control. As I said, he did show improvement and hopefully he will continue to show improvement.
  4. I wrote a few editorials for my paper over the last couple years and generated some pretty negatory responses. I know you would have sent me hate mail for one of my columns ndistops - I ripped Notre Dame.
  5. I bet the Cubs don't draw more than 2 walks in any game for the next week.
  6. Amen to that. Maybe because I'm getting older but I don't think I've given up on a season before the ASB before.
  7. You can't make this stuff up. Absolutely classic. He signed a contract with the San Diego Surf Dawgs (yes, that's right, Dawgs) of the independent Golden Baseball League. Here is the link I've been laughing for the past 5 minutes about this. Canseco will make $2500 per month. Is that even enough to pay for his steroids? There are approximately 430295 jokes that can be made about this.
  8. What's wrong with chanting at a rival's field? I didn't see any Cubs fans pulling punches when we took over Turner Field at the 2003 NLDS. So they made Wrigley Field Comerica Park South?? So what?? IN 2003, we made Turner Field Wrigley Field South. I have no problems with fans turning an enemies ballpark (other team) into their own. Or like how Milwaukee is known as Chicago north.
  9. Well then you better hope the fans and/or players vote him in. B/c Ozzie won't. If he is on the final man ballot, I will stuff it with Mauer votes. Care to make a wager on this? I think Mauer gets in as well. But if for some reason he does end up on the final man ballot I'm with CubsBullsBears and will be stuffing the ballot box. Like I said, I don't think it will go that far though.
  10. Hey, great minds think alike. I love the diagrams TT.
  11. So I'm guessing that's your pick the rest of the way? No, they'll lose. I just want to see one goal for the photo opportunities. Care to make some picks then? How about you Raisen? Just for the fun of it.
  12. So I'm guessing that's your pick the rest of the way?
  13. Wild pitch/Passed ball - Nevin to 2nd. MARMOL IN TO RUN!!!
  14. 7th Cubs walk on the day. Cedeno up with Nevin on first.
  15. And the Cubs are about to go down 1-2-3 in the ninth. Nevin up now after Jacque pops out to the shortstop.
  16. (To everybody) Right now....who would you rather be a fan of: The New York Knicks, or the Chicago Cubs? The Cubs by far.
  17. Double switch coming but amazingly, Dusty isn't making it. Turnbow in to pitch.
  18. Pierre sure made a good effort to get out of the way of that pitch. Walker up with runners on 1st and 2nd.
  19. 6 walks on the day for the Cubs. This is unbelievable.
  20. Hah, the Brewers walked Blanco to get to Neifi. Well, probably not but that's what it looked like.
  21. Hah. The ad behind home plate says "Fine Wood" right now. Sorry, I had to mention it.
