  1. Just looked and he's 7th in the NL.
  2. I'm guessing Nomar Garciaparra.
  3. .392 right now. But yes, it would be a travesty if Mauer didn't make it. And given Ozzie's personal vendetta with Gardenhire, I don't think he will take him. You do realize that the players get to vote other players in before the manager picks, right? Yes, and if he isn't voted by players and other Twins are taken, Ozzie won't and then it would be a travesty. But when all is said and done, I hope he is only able to take 1 or 2 of his own players. Ozzie does have to take at least one player for each team. So if the players don't elect Mauer, Ozzie might not have a choice but to snub Mauer from the game to get a player from every team in there.
  4. Who cares? I want the Pirates to win but that's because I want the Cubs to get closer to last place. It doesn't matter that the Pirates are playing the White Sox. Not sure what PrimeTime cares about though.
  5. Came back too soon... It just seems like he isn't at 100% and his wrist is still sore and therefore still bothering him. I noticed the grimace when he swung as well.
  6. I don't think that's what the Cards had planned for the promo night.
  7. Excellent DP turn there. Can we get some runs for Prior please?
  8. Ha, Kasper is talking about the Cubs making Gonzalez throw a lot of pitches to get into the Brewers pen. Like that will ever happen.
  9. How bout we sign free agents to play for our worst in the majors offense then? Or maybe then can sign some FA's to IMPROVE the "worst in the majors offense."
  10. No, Abreu is more productive. You don't know what production means? I'll give you a hint, I'm not talking about AVG/HR/RBI. Sorry. My bad. I meant to say that Abreu is more productive. I misquoted Geech on that one. Again, my bad.
  11. It is so unbelievably nice to see Derrek Lee back on the field.
  12. You're crazy. England is incapable of winning a shootout. :P Care to make your predictions then?
  13. You mean the Cubs aren't the only team that does this?
  14. Actually one of the better lineups Baker has fielded considering the circumstances. Obviously I don't want 4-3 at the top of the order but I don't see the word "Perez" in there.
  15. .392 right now. But yes, it would be a travesty if Mauer didn't make it.
  16. Didn't someone once post a link to a lineup simulator that estimated runs scored based on a given lineup? We might even be able to prove it. A statement like "because he's more productive," when stated by itself with nothing else is one of the most useless statements ever to attempt to prove a point. They mean absolutely nothing and frankly, are just stupid. I wasn't agreeing or disagreeing with you Geech, I just wanted to know where the statement came from and if you had anything to back it up. If you do, great post it and prove me wrong. I would like that and would change my view if this was true. I'm glad you find it stupid. It's just fact though. Not opinion. I didn't realize we had to go back and start over with the discussion of what exactly production is. 1. I don't see how the statement "because he's more productive" set by itself is not a fact but an opinion. If you would have backed it up with stats then it becomes less of an opinion and more of a fact. But you didn't. 2. I don't know what you consider to be productive or not so expecting me to know that is stupid. You can't expect me to have read every single thread posted on this board. Sure, you may have stated at some point what you look for in a hitter and what a hitter must do for him to be productive in your eyes. But I don't necessarily think that and for you to assume I do is wrong. 3. I wasn't trying to be argumentative. Geech said that if you put both Abreu and CLee in the same lineup that Abreu would be more productive. As I stated, I wasn't agreeing or disagreeing, I just wanted to know the basis of this statement, which Geech provided. Your input in this conversation was completely useless and unnecessary based what you contributed. EDIT: Changed the bold from CLee to Abreu because I typed the wrong name.
  17. It's Hendry's responsibility to make sure they ARE in a position to win next year. It's unreasonable for him to expect fans to be patient for two or three more years after he allowed what looked like a perennial contender to deteriorate. He created the problem; it's up to him to fix it right away. Any moves made need to be with the idea of winning next year, not in two or three (or even longer) years, and if they don't win next year he needs to be held accountable, contract extension notwithstanding. Agreed. Teams have done the worst to first thing before. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's possible. And even if the team can't do that, they should try to be competative in 2007. If you are competative then there is a chance that your team catches fire and grabs a playoff spot.
  18. That is the first time I've heard this as the reasoning for his attrocious season thus far. So, since DLee is back Pierre should start putting up some astronomical numbers. I just don't see it. Not "ASTRONOMICAL" numbers. But very good #'s. Just watch it happen. I hope you're right. I don't think it will happen but I hope it does.
  19. He *is* more productive. Carlos Lee has a .301 EQA so far in 2006 and a .280 career while Bobby Abreu has a .320 and .314 respectively. You'll have to inform me as to what EQA is. And for my own future reference, what site did you get it off of?
  20. Didn't someone once post a link to a lineup simulator that estimated runs scored based on a given lineup? We might even be able to prove it. 21. If every other position was the same, a lineup that featured Bobby Abreu would score more runs than one with Carlos Lee no matter where you hit them. How do you know this?
  22. From the article. I believe a saw it in the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel not too long ago. Even at 10 -11 million a year, that is a bit high for a guy with a career .284 BA, Sub .340 OBP, and a career OPS of .831. He is not an elite player. He is consistently good, but not a great player. I am not saying I wouldn't want the Cubs to get him. But we wouldn't even pay Moises 9 million a year and he put up comparable numbers to CLee. I would love to have him for about 8 million or so for 3 years. Agreed on the contract and length. I don't want to play him more than $10 mil a year and definately don't want him signed for 5 years. Give him a team option for the fourth year. But not five years.
  23. Where do you get 5/75 for $15 mil a year from? From the article.
