  1. 2 hours 17 minutes with 1 out in the 9th. So thankful for the pitch clock, now I can spend more time working after the game
  2. At least for one game we're sort of seeing how the FO intended this team to look. Solid pitching, good defense, and offense who can put the bat on the ball (especially on a cold day like today when hitting for power is a lot more difficult).
  3. So is beating up Corbin Burnes on Opening Day now an official Cubs tradition?
  4. If he can hit .750 this season, I'll be a big fan.
  5. Update: 5 hits in all of Spring training, 3 hits and a .790 xBA flyout in his first 4 PA of the regular season.
  6. Sorry but Girardi brings nothing to the table for me. There is absolutely no need for a 3rd person in the booth unless it's a guest appearance for 1 inning.
  7. Speaking of that lineout... Swanson had 5 hits in all of Spring Training and already has 2 hits and a .790 xBA lineout in his first 3 PA. Love it
  8. Since this is a general chat thread during the games, I wanted to share that I went down a rabbit hole of old NSBB posts yesterday, and in one of the threads you were asking about how to calculate OBP. Obviously this was 19 years ago and you have to start somewhere, but was crazy for me to see knowing what a god of analytics and good baseball takes you turned into. Edit: Specifically you were not aware that a SF adversely affected OBP
  9. I used to think the Brewers were almost gaming the system with how they built their teams to maximize run prevention. Now it seems like the Cubs are the ones doing that and the Brewers have a bunch of dumb fielders running around.
  10. WTF is Girardi seeing? He looks obviously safe to me
  11. Holy hell Gomes. Is this why we carried 3 catchers, in case Gomes forgot how to catch a baseball?
  12. I mean they're the ones who have Christian Yelich for 6 more years and $160m, and are pushing their best starter out of the door with lowball contrat offers
  13. Defensive catchers exclusively plan starting out great. Catcher can't catch and hits into a DP
  14. It was either Mancini or investing in more server space.
  15. Catch the ball Gomes lol. He's dropped like 5 pitches so far
  16. Zips projections have them scoring the 8th least runs in the league this year. But "awful" means different things to different people.
  17. Dansby gonna learn quickly that balls like that are going to die well before the warning track in a cold and windy Wrigley.
  18. Love how JD has to go through his keys with a quickened pace to beat the clock
