  1. Man it’s still so weird to see Duke Silver, THE Duke Silver, discussing guys like Wesneski and not like Jon Lester. Anyways for Wesneski, make sure to factor into your projections the Cubs have a road trip to Toronto. Are they still keeping out the unvaccinated?
  2. They won 74 last year and probably improved their offense and pitching just not by a ton. I have them at 78 or so but hold out hope that the defense, pitching and contact strategy makes them much better than the sum of their parts somehow. the difficulty with comparing last years win total is that this year we have 10-12 less games against the Pirates and Reds and several of those games will be replaced by good teams.
  3. Supposedly to have an extra adequate bat for late innings who can still step behind the plate. Still doesn't really make sense to me since he's not really a good hitter (for a catcher? ok I guess) and who carries 3 catches these days?
  4. Man I've seen some people get screwed with their post counts following the move, but no one got screwed more than Raisin, our all time post count leader on the old board. Sorry to derail, that just jumped out at me when I saw you post lol
  5. FWIW 2018-2020 was easily Heyward's best 3 year stretch as a Cub. Not necessarily what we wanted/expected out of him when we signed him but he was an adequate baseball player those years. Probably dumb to make this comparison because offensive environments change and there are other ways the latter provides value, but that slash line is roughly what Nico's 90% projection is for this year, posted in @Matt Trueblood's article today (.281/.342/.406) Year Tm G PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS OPS+ TB GDP HBP SH SF IBB Average 108 420 367 55 96 16 3 12 47 4 1 47 69 154 7 3 1 2 2 2018-2020 CHC 324 1259 1100 165 287 49 10 35 141 11 4 140 207 .261 .347 .419 .766 102 461 20 9 2 7 7
  6. Ugh....my wife and I finally left Sprint/TMobile a few months ago. We were longtime Sprint customers and when they finally forced us to switch to the TMobile network we found that we had absolutely no service inside and around our house. Even with a wireless extender it didn't help. I tried to convince my wife to stay specifically for MLB.TV but at the end of the day we had to make the switch. Really enjoyed having it the last 2 years! Edit: Ummm..... I just tried it anyway, and it said it was successful, so maybe I got lucky? I still haven't returned the wireless extender so maybe it till sees me as an active customer!?
  7. Since this completely mirrors the Favre/Rodgers situation, I bet the Packers will tell Rodgers that if he returns he will be the backup, just like they did with Favre.
  8. I'll do it next on Saturday then 🤣
  9. Laura, Vance, OMG, Sulley, GR, off the top of my head. I know Vance posted recently before the board changed over but not sure if he's been back since.
  10. This has gotta excite Packers fans re: Love: Not a horrible quote as he's trying to lower expectations, but not effusive in praise either
  11. We've self-governed game threads for years....just need a sign up thread then you go in order. Poster keeps posting them until the Cubs lose, then the next person goes. You just need one person who can nudge the next person if they forget to post. If there's no post 2 hours before the game anyone can jump in and create one as a guest starter. The main reason I'm pushing this is because there are several of us who have our own styles and creativity when posting game threads (this is gam thread. i am tree) that live on in NSBB lore. Nothing that would upset the advertisers or alienate new members. Also the whole genesis of the gif themed game threads was based on the day's game thread starter.
  12. The gif chooser is dead to me bc it doesn't have the "Starlin Phew" gif. Or that creepy old mouse clapping gif OMC used to post (I think it was OMC?)
  13. Not sure how I feel about having a nice guy GM.
  14. Sorry I didnt meant that you could use the manual quote tags like you could on the old board. It's more this: Then creating another quote
  15. This happened to me and drove me nuts. I hit refresh and went back to the reply and there was a button to clear the quote or something.
  16. So umm Opening Day on Thursday, how we doing this? No I’m not volunteering
  17. I think you can still use regular quote tags and do it manually but it doesn’t seem as easy as breaking up the text and using [quote][/quote] around the different chunks of text.
  18. I wonder which of Nico, the Cubs or both didn't want to do an extension for more than 1 year beyond arbitration years. Wasn't necessarily expecting a Braves like extension but we basically just got Nico for 1 more season. Fine I guess...at least we'll have 1 Cubs player on the active roster who signed an extension when Hendricks is on the IL and Bote is toiling away in Iowa.
  19. Imagine if we could play in a WC with Pepi. I mean I know we had so many elite strikers on the roster but still
  20. The US is dominating the parts of this game that I’ve seen but it’s still 0-0. Better not do something stupid and lose this to get eliminated from the Nations League
  21. I’ve seen this on other forums, it’s multi quote. It basically stores a quote and then when you quote someone else I think it allows you to put both quotes in your reply. Not sure exactly how it works here
