  1. I honestly feel this way right now. But then everybody brings up Virginia's struggles, then their Championship. Also, assuming Edey isn't crazy enough to try to go to the NBA(And the transfer portal doesn't hit too hard), Purdue probably returns their whole roster except for David Jenkins. We're talking their top 7 guys in minutes played returning. Hopefully after time has passed you can at least take solace in the fact that Purdue won the regular season and conference tournament championship. But I totally get it if this completely ruins those accomplishments. I was talking with some Michigan fans after the game about whether you’d rather miss the tourney or be a 1 seed and lose to a 16. I think I’d rather actually miss the tourney of those scenarios
  2. Also nice to see Nelson Velazquez hitting 3rd for PR and hitting a single, then scoring on Javy’s bomb. Past, present and (sort of) future Cubs staring for PR
  3. FDU was Kenpom’s 297th ranked team, and had the 4th worst defense of any team in the country. They did not even win their conference tournament. They lost their championship game but got the auto-bid because Merrimack was ineligible. This is worse than UMBC/Virginia despite the score being closer. Painter has now lost to an 11, 12, 13, 15 and 16 seed
  4. Purdue reminds me of 2012-2013 Michigan. They brought back some returning players like Burke and Hardaway and had a great incoming freshman class. Ranked 5th going into the season, they started 20-1 and at one point were ranked number 1. Their defense then fell apart and they went 6-7 the rest of the season including getting knocked out early in the Big Ten tournament. They even lost to a Penn State team that went 2-16 in the conference. Over the last 2 weeks they dropped from a 1 seed to a 4 seed and their expectations were much lower (I remember everyone picking 5 seed VCU to upset them in the 2nd round), but they found another gear and went all the way to the championship game. Not saying its a perfect comparison by any means and admittedly just drawing parallels without much actual analysis (though I know Purdue's defense has really dropped off lately similar to Michigan's) but just saying don't completely dismiss the early season performance or take too much stock in the late season lag. Expected to be a top team heading into the season, they played like it initially and then slipped before putting it back together. Sounds like Purdue so far. ….or not
  5. 0-7 today on upsets, and only 1 of the 7 games has gone down to the final seconds (Xavier-Kennesaw St). Zzzzzzzz
  6. Yikes
  7. I’ve thought that too. They’ll also have 2 first round picks with at least one of them hopefully being top 10. But I don’t think Poles is a splashy FA guy in general. Not sure if he’ll ever make the splash you think he makes. I think he is carefully building this thing up and doesn’t necessarily have a timeline in his mind. He absolutely should be trying to win ASAP with Fields on his rookie deal though
  8. Love the Foreman signing. Very underrated though like others pointed out I was hoping we’d have a better pass catching option.
  9. They’re also the only 1 seed to ever lose to a 16. Happened 5 years ago today. ?? what am I missing
  10. Insane, absolutely insane. Hopefully the Bulls can get an injury waiver to give them some space to find a replacement PG this offseason. Though I think with cap holds for guys like Vuc, the Bulls are over the cap even without Lonzo's cap number.
  11. Bottom 10 but hopefully improved LB play and likely improved secondary play (with Brisker and Gordon in their 2nd years) to mitigate some of the challenges of having a below average DL unit, maybe? Pretty please?
  12. Wondering if the strategy for spending the money is more about lets get adequate players in the door so we have some baseline depth and then focus on bringing in impact players through the draft. Not having marginal NFL talent in key roles helps bring the floor of the team up without giving out too many outlandish contracts. Or I'm just talking out of my ass
  13. I don't even know who Mark Pennel is and I watched every game last year lol
  14. Why are the announcers saying that the US can only not advance if they give up a grand slam? If that’s accurate, another funny thing about this scenario is the US has no incentive to score runs in the top of the 9th because it gives Colombia more opportunities to score the 4 runs they need (other than a grand slam) If Colombia loads the bases the US can just walk 2 batters and move on. Weird rule…not sure if they thought through these possibilities when they made it
  15. I know nothing about this guy, what's to like? He's not necessarily a particularly good QB but he has a good rapport with Moore and he's a really good practice guy from what I've read. Scout team legend. Pretty sure Siemien is still on the roster so he'd be the 3rd QB but I'd feel better about him coming in an emergency situation than most QB3s. In a different year I'd suggest that its possibly a waste to pay 3 vet QBs but the Bears have money to burn so I don't mind it.
  16. So the US is up 1 but in reality they'd have to give up 3 runs to "lose"
  17. so not much different than last year? Also I know there's still a lot of offseason and more chances for players to be cut, etc but is there a chance the Bears don't actually spend to the cash floor and pay the extra money out?
  18. Yikes. Doesn’t sound good, hope that somehow it’s not major
  19. Orlando Brown off the board Edit: accidentally posted a RT of the actual news
  20. Looks like we have our backup QB. I like
  21. You can subscribe to threads? Wild
  22. A friend of mine just saw Fields, Claypool, Moore and Mooney at the Bulls game together. Fields doing some relationship building with his WRs, love it Edit: nevermind it’s on Twitter. I don’t watch the bulls anymore lol
