  1. Cubs get 2 on but Patrick Wisdom strikes out as he tends to do
  2. Noticed Cubs cast off Zach McKinstry has a .275/.362/.396/.758 line with the Tigers this year with a 113 OPS+ and 0.4 WAR. He led off tonights game with a homer so those numbers will be higher.
  3. Apologies if one is up somewhere, didn't see it on quick search. Someone on the Cubs will be attempting to pitch, they will be facing a Phillies starter also attempting to pitch. Some position players on both teams will play as both teams are prepared to send out those position players at traditional defensive positions. The game will most likely be 9 innings and at the end of 9 innings a winner will be determined.
  4. I'm convinced that a Cubs player could lose a leg in a horrific accident and the Cubs would have him available "off the bench" the next day before putting him on the IL. It's not a huge deal but its a bit strange how almost all injuries for the Cubs evolve this way.
  5. I was getting nervous, but as of 3:50 pm ET Cody was placed on the IL
  6. This might deserve its own thread but Jim Brown passed away today. Great RB, great advocate for social justice.
  7. Still free for me...it ends June 26th which is stupid. Not going to spend money to get 2 Cubs games a year, an NFL playoff game and a couple ND games, or if I do it will be starting and stopping
  8. Dammit almost a 5th OT
  9. Yeah but for not I’d accept Alzolay or Hughes for now. Really not sure why they thought Keegan was the answer tonight. Some of that is hindsight but even when he’s getting results he doesn’t look that good
  10. Doubt it. He’s still selling Tom on the rebuild component. Ross would be the scapegoat this year and Jed next year.
  11. Single, Home Run, Walk is not how you want to start off the 9th with a 3 run lead
  12. Cross Keegan off the potential closers list
  13. If the Cubs win this game they will improve to 6-13 in their last 19 games. The Cubs will be 4-0 in Drew Smyly starts during that time span and 2-13 when anyone else starts
  14. So Morel has played in 8 games so far. -Has a hit in 8 of 8 games -Has 2 hits in 4 of 8 games -Has RBI in 6 of 8 games -Has an XBH in 7 of 8 games -Has a HR in 5 of 8 games
  15. I wish you could put money on things like "Sometime between 10am ET - 5pm ET on Friday, May 19, 2023, Cody Bellinger will be placed on the IL"
  16. I find it really interesting that the Bulls have interviewed Brandon Miller, who is expected to go either 2nd or 3rd overall in the draft. I know the combine is in Chicago so maybe its normal that a team with 0 picks in the draft is doing a courtesy interview with a top pick. But that combined with the fact that Portland is rumored to be shopping the pick makes it a little more interesting I guess. Not even sure what the Bulls can offer them outside of like Zach Lavine, Pat Williams and their own protected 1st back. Cant even trade any draft picks until 2027 (unless its on draft night - but draft night 2024 since we don't have any picks this year) so it would have to be a win-now trade for Portland that takes significant assets from the Bulls.
  17. Either we lose pathetically again or we score a week's worth of runs in one game and then go back to normal in Philly
  18. Yeah my only actual good team suffered a humiliating loss in their biggest game in decades. No disrespect to TCU but seeing them lose by almost 60 points to Georgia made Michigan’s loss a bit humiliating. that said at least I have them to look forward to I guess lol
  19. Which I kind of pointed out. We play the Reds, Angels and Giants who are all roughly the same record as us. Actually now that I look at it the only teams with worse records than us at this point are the Nationals (1 GB), Cardinals (2.5 GB), Rockies (1.5 GB), White Sox (4.5 GB), Royals (7 GB) and A's (a lot behind)
  20. My experience as a sports fan lately. OK Team X sucks but Team Y season is starting soon. Then Team Y's season starts and you quickly realize that they too suck, but Team Z's season is just around the corner....
  21. We play exactly 2 games against teams with a worse record than us between now and July 17th and that’s the Cardinals who are suddenly playing much better. we do have 2 series against the Pirates in that span too and they’re now playing much worse so it’s not terrible. But about 70% of the bad teams in our schedule are played between mid August through the rest of the season.
  22. Our starters have not been very good of late.
