    Not sure if Dusty understands the importance of these games. I would think if you were going to rest Walker, do it this weekend against Colorado....oh well Edit: Blanco to catch Maddux was a pretty good call though

    I believe he had a good week immediately following the beaning.....then he took a turn down. If that is the case, you cannot attribute the slump to Torres. Yup and of course it had nothing to do with Palmeiro candy

    You gotta remain optimistic. Although it doesnt even seem like the team is at this point. If you turn pessimistic now and give up hope, baseball is no longer going to be fun this summer with the Sox and Cards in first place fighting for the best record in baseball...

    Aren't you in Chicago? You go to DePaul, right? Or did you go back home for the summer? I went home to NH for a couple of weeks. I figured when the Cubs started tanking I could afford to miss a few weeks. But now I miss watching the games.

    yes, yes it its. It's very quiet in here. Shhhhhh Sounds like they might keep you with the Braves/D'Backs game once the Cubs game starts, Der... How much longer is the FOX contract with MLB? Their Saturday games of the week are so frigging awful. Yep, didn't send me to Chicago. GAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! They didn't send me either! Can someone confirm they've been "sent?" Otherwise I wanna MLB.tv this. They made an announcement that they were sending it to Buck and McCarver, then they paused and if you werent sent over they continued doing the Braves/DBacks game. MLB.tv wont work until like 6PM CST

    If the game gets in, I doubt my local Fox coverage (New Hampshire) will pick it up :( Oh well, I'll watch the Cubs go for the sweep on ESPN tomorrow

    Apparently you've missed some of the pitchers that SHUT US DOWN during the 8 game losing streak. Remember the Reds swept us by allowing 8 runs in the series. THE REDS

    We are 18 games behind the Cardinals, I can't say that Dusty Baker has cost our team even 10 of those games.

    I haven't been real positive of the entire season and lately especially, however the only thing that has kept me from thoroughly throwing in the towel was the knowledge that we still have a ton of games left with both the Cards and Stros. Even if the playoffs aren't likely, the opportunity to play spoiler still gives me reason to see the Cubs win. The funny thing is, we only lost 2.5 games in the Wild Card in believe during our 8 game slide. The Astros could have burried us, but they didnt. Maybe that is them returning the favor for last year?

    Why do you have to make something out of nothing? La Russa does not order pitchers to throw at players. Period. I read an article in ESPN magazine where he not even admitted to doing so in strategical situations, he actually named specific instances in the past where he threw at a player. I think the player he named in that article was Luis Gonzalez. He was talking about how much he hated to do it because they were friends. So there.

    I just injected myself with some positive pills. If for some reason we swept Houston this week and pulled to within say 4 games at the end of that series....

    You do realize that pretty much every game in the past 3 weeks would be a loss if our starter only gave up 4 runs in 8IP

    This team, after 2 weeks of complete suckatude, is making a futile attempt to win me back... It's like a girl breaking up with you, you go through all the stages of getting over her, but finally you are finally back to normal and almost completely over her..... ...then suddenly she comes over wasted at 3AM talking about how much she wants you back and she misses being with you
