  1. you thought that last one was hit hard? It was a total bloop. Maybe not hit hard, but he was sitting on the pitch, they did good advanced scouting for this one.
  2. First two curves hit hard. Neither looked very good
  3. Somewhere, Matt Murton's mother is sobbing quietly.
  4. That's awesome. I hope that eases the burden of his grandfather dying. I hope the Reds win every game the rest of the year they don't play the Cubs.
  5. To the uniform of the team that hasn't won the World Series in 98 years (and counting). I say they fit right into them
  6. i can't see any network rigging a game show. highly illegal. See the movie Quiz Show. I think thats the name of it. It's about when a quiz show is rigged
  7. Maybe if we drop into 4th like the Orioles, the management will get a clue and fire the manager. Never gonna happen. The Trib's too damn cheap to eat a contract. The best we can hope for is that Baker gets busted with a trunk load of weed and tossed in jail. Didn't they eat Don Baylors? And for that matter Sammy Sosa's?
  8. Maybe if we drop into 4th like the Orioles, the management will get a clue and fire the manager.
  9. I think they tried that last year. It backfired miserably. Which top free agents did they go out and sign??? Traded for Derrek Lee, traded for Michael Barrett, signed LaTroy Hawkins, signed Greg Maddux (Not to mention Kent Mercker). And when it still wasn't working correctly, they traded for Nomar. That's a huge upgrade for a team that was 5 outs from the WS the prior year.
  10. I think they tried that last year. It backfired miserably.
  11. The last time we didn't have to come back in the 8th to win or hold on for dear life in the 9th was the 16 games ago vs. Cincinnati. We lost the last 2 vs. Cin We lost the first vs. Stl We won the second vs. Stl hanging onto dear life We won the third vs. Stl after coming back one down in the 8th and recovering from a blown save We won the first vs. SF with an 8th inning rally We lost the second vs. SF We won the third vs. SF with an 8th inning rally We lost the first vs. Ari We won the 2nd vs. Ari with a 9th inning rally We lost the last 2 vs. Ari We won the first vs. Philly hanging onto dear life We lost the last 2 vs. Philly
  12. We are a 9th inning come back and a lack of situational hitting by the Phillies in game 1 from another 7 game losing streak. Good job guys
  13. They have a guy with 550+ HR playing in RF for them. But I wouldn't get anyone from them anyway, I hear they are juicers
  14. You guys know what the problem is right? Power outage. 1 Home Run in the last 8 games. And they are at this bandbox and still can't hit one
  15. For the love of God, please fire Rothschild after this season. How can someone have so much talent to worth with and get so little out of it.
  16. Don't worry, Macais should hit at least 4 grand slams today

    If

Slow down there Sport. The Cubs have a legit shot, but you might want to rethink your wording there. :D We were blowing you guys away, but then June came along
  18. See the thing that sucks, is that I can't even seeing Dusty mentioning this to the team. I can see him making excuses for the team and then forgetting about it the next game.
  19. JonM and I were talking about that via IM. Reynolds was saying since it was a passed ball, the hitter has to either be tagged or thrown out at first. The logic is that since he has to try to advance to first, the runners have to be moving and there is a force out available at all bases. So if that was true, Barrett could have stepped on home and thrown to third for a DP. However, the rule is that you cant advance to first on a K if there is a runner on first. So basically the play was dead when Burrell K'd and runners could advance at their own risk.
  20. Out of curiosity, how did Remlinger pitch that badly today? I didn't watch the game because it was on CSN+ but.....he gave up a double, got a ground ball for an out and then struck out someone. Sure he failed to cover first, but so did half the team. I do think overall Remlinger is terrible, but he didn't do terrible against the 3 hitters he pitched to today.
  21. Is there any reason you didn't post this in the game threads, rants or the bad managerial moves thread? Seriously, we don't need 5 new "Dusty sucks" threads in baseball discussions every night. Why not? Maybe a Cubs exec will stumble upon the forum and see the quantity of Dusty hate
  22. Well I was pretty sure we found every way to lose. Nope
