    That is simply amazing, Fred. You can't possibly track that, can you? You have got to be making that up. It's very real. You'd be amazed what you can do with a good database program !! :wink: edit:... not only that..... CUBS are 15-10 when the temperature is 85 degrees or above Outstanding. Great work, Fred. Remind me to hire you when I finally get my dream job of Cubs play-by-play broadcaster. You've got some of the best filler I've ever seen. He'd be like the guy from Little Big League.     You know whats funny about this. Dusty said something in the papers to the effect of he can't always play the rookies because they are expected to be prepared to play baseball and not make rookie mistakes. He can't give them on the job training in the middle of a playoff race. Yet even the veterans and Dusty himself continually make dumb mistakes. Oh well...this series kinda seemed like a trap series to me anyways.

    ^^ Well at times its hard to give Maddux the benefit of the doubt that he 'placed' the ball on the outside corner on purpose when 2 batters earlier he 'placed' a ball high in the zone that was hit onto Waveland. BTW, why is this in Rivalries?

    It must have something to do with his gameday routine being disrupted for day games. Or maybe he's just not a morning person. Who knows. There is so logical reasoning I can think of to why someone's D/N splits are that extreme. Mind boggling... Theres one guy I can live without having on the Cubs :)

    I really hope Dusty puts in Woody regardless of who is coming up.

    At this point, in situations like this I root for the team that I think has less of a chance of winning it. I still don't see the Nationals winning this thing, although the fact that they were able to somewhat right their ship is admirable. That said, it would be nice to say we are 5.5 out tonight, but if we are 6 back and Philly gets a loss, I think thats the best for us. LOL, anyone see Everett go for a quick throw to first, and then see slow Aramis running down the line and make an easy toss for the out??

    Andy Masur is terrible. I'm watching the game on ESPN but have WGN radio streaming on Gameday Audio. As usual, its on a delay so I get to see the play and then hear Masur call it. Brutal so far

    Wood pitched yesterday, I doubt they use him today. Yeah but he only threw 9 pitches. There has been speculation out there that Dusty would use today to test Kerry Wood out for the second straight day, considering the importance of this game.

    By the way, how great does it feel to be moderately confident that your 8-9 pitchers can get the job done with no worries?

    Z at 98 pitches. Would be nice to get the win without having to use Wood. But I say use Z to start the inning, and if he gets in any trouble, have Wood come in and blow them away.

    He's not even in the top 40. Neifi is first on the team and 21st in the league with 13.     So far Nomar's ankle, shoulder, wrist, groin and back have kept him from playing games for the Cubs since he joined the team...

    I think this deserves its own thread. They are down 5-0 to the Mariners in the 4th inning and are on their way to their 18th straight loss. Can they break the '88 Orioles record of 22? This team looks godawful right now, almost as bad as the Cubs have looked at stretches this year.

    I don't like his negative attitude towards closing. I applaud him for accepting a move to the bullpen to help the team this year, but overall whenever asked about it, it seems like he has a gun to his head forcing him to pitch relief. That said, he would make a great closer next year if the first 7 innings this year are any indication.

    5.5 in 41 games is doable, 7.5 in 41 seems a lot harder. This game will determine if there is worthwhile baseball to watch on the Northside for the next 6 weeks

    You know, I don't know why the immediate neighborhood would be opposed to night games. Seems to me like more night games would = more money. Of course everyone not in a rooftop or a bar would probably care less.

    Yup, I never understood why a player has to play because they are making a lot of money. Doesn't make any sense to me...

    Sox now 17-17 in their last 34 games. Not exactly as bad as the Cubs have been at times recently, but not exactly storming into September either....
