  1. Can anyone blame me for looking past today to tomorrows matchup (Z vs. Clemens)?
  2. Quick, someone test Nick Swisher and Mark Teahan
  3. Imagine how many emails dusty would get if he published his email
  4. I saw that. It looked like it hit off his head, and the announcers were convinced it went off his glove. Did it really strike him in the head? If so, wow because that hit (off Vlad) had the speed of the one that hit Prior's elbow
  5. You win....seriously you should write for the Heckler or something. I haven't laughed that hard in weeks
  6. So would you have let the pitcher bat? I'm trying to think back to who was available. Obviously losing Walkers stick hurt our chances, but Aurellia doesn't make a good play on Murton, the game is essentially over. I've heard about this one time that a guy pinch hit for a pitcher, and then he was out of the game. Might be a rumor though. Macias doesn't have to stay in the game. Yes he does, look how much better his range and zone factors are then Walker. /sarcasm
  7. Some intreaging subplots to this game: -Will the Cardinals clinch at Wrigley Field? -Will any Cubs fans not sell their tickets to Cards fans for a huge markup? -Will Prior stay under 150 pitches through the first 4 innings? -Will any more pitchers that haven't pitched in two weeks randomly get thrown in at a critical situation? -Will Dusty stop being a venomous cancer determined to destroy all that is Cubdom? Anyways, the Cubs have the advantage in the pitching matchup, as long as Priors arm doesnt fall off sometime in the second. Umm...Go Cubs
  8. Dusty managed his way to a loss there
  9. Hmm...Dusty INT walked the bases loaded with a young pitcher who hasnt pitched in 2 weeks and no room for error...ill start tomorrows game thread now
  10. You going Friday? I live in the area and if I wasn't in class until 9pm in the Loop, I'd head down there
  11. Let's pretend we are in a playoff race: Marlins up over the Astros 4-2 in the 7th
  12. Anyone else think Zambrano had a much better shot at getting a hit there?
  13. Thank God the Bears and Cubs will only go head to head for a little while. I remember sitting at Wrigley last year for week 1 and almost regretting going to the game while Glendon Rusch was getting lit up
  14. Did the Cubs play Detroit twice? I know the Tigers were at Wrigley in early June of 2000. I was there to see Aguilera pick up his 300th career save. We played them in Detroit in late June of 98 and I'm 99.9 percent sure that's when Sammy set the "most homers in a month" record. I will confirm that. It was
  15. So you need the Cubs to go 17-5, the astros to go 11-12 and all other teams to beat up on each other just for the Cubs to tie the wild card? Theoretically we are better then most of the teams that we play yet realistically we don't beat them at a regular pace. I am really just cheering for a .500 season. No need to have unnecessary expectations. If they win 9 in a row, I will begin to think about the playoffs.
  16. Wow, I missed the game tonight and it looks like I missed quite a doozy. I really gotta remember to catch these games!!
  17. Only 5 pages for a game thread? Yeesh
  18. Another reason to root against the Astros (if you needed one). The Astros winning the Wild Card would allow St. Louis to play San Diego, currently under .500, in the first round
  19. Agreed. I don;t have the numbers but one of the reasons the bullpen has sucked this year has to be because they have worked a crapload of innings.
  20. You do know you have to get a base to get the 10k right? :) Maybe you can take one for the team
  21. Wow, do they test for steroids there? (Just asking...)
  22. K now do highest percentage of Strikeouts and weak popups per AB
  23. Wow we almost have representitives from every level of the Cubs posting here! Welcome Len, you have made the transition from the familiar Chip and Steve booth smoother then I could ever imagine. However in order to confirm your identity, we must ask you some validation questions: 1) What was the average legnth in millimeters of your hair on July 15, 2002? 2) What was the name of your third grade teacher's dog's mother? 3) What was the 47th word you said on air as a broadcaster for the Cubs (not including Spring Training?) If you know the answers to these questions, we will accept your identity as real.
  24. No no no no no no no no no no no Like a poster above said, we'd pretty much have to go 26-4 or better to have a chance. Not going to happen. Just let the season die peacefully.
