  1. *sigh* another fundamental blunder. What else is new?
  2. Now that you guys mention it, it also seems like Lee hasn't been getting to balls he normally gets to. Either his timing is off or he has to make his dive slower to compensate for the injury
  3. You know that every player slumps at some point in the season right? Even Pujols.

    If

Only two years? I've been waiting for the if's to turn into reality all my life. This rendition I've been waiting 2 years for. I don't recall saying things like IF Mel Rojas can pitch way over his head and IF Brian McRae can take steroids and IF Sammy Sosa could stop striking out 200 times in a season and IF Anthony Young could win 20 games in a row instead of losing 20 and IF Amaury Telemaco can become our ace we can finish in third ;)
  5. Gotta start havin more babies. Excuse me if I have no sympathy for Rob Mackowiak
  6. I don't think he's leading in OBP anymore, any Cabs and Pujols are breathing down his neck for AVG. Stupid prolonged slump we've all expected

    If

I've been waiting for the if's to turn into reality for 2 years now....don't blame me for not holding my breath
  8. I was about to say.... I hate the guy no matter how cool he might be
  9. He must know his time is almost up with starting SS and is completely betraying "Dusty Ball" philosophy
  10. Probably his Pirates helmet and he wanted to keep it.. thus he had it re-painted... (Just a guess?) The C on the Cubs helmet isnt painted on, its actually applied on seperately. Yea, I'm pretty sure it's just a sticker... (or something like that) So he probably kept his Pirates helmet, had it painted blue/red, and hasnt gotten the sticker yet? I dunno. It seems unlikely to me that he'd go to all that trouble of painting it...especially with the two-tone paint job for the away helmet and all that. Of course, you never know with baseball players and their superstitions. My guess is that he just got a brand new helmet which may have been packaged with the sticker (or not) and he just forgot to put the sticker on...or didn't want to for some reason... or who knows... LOL Suspend him for violation of uniform policy
  11. We found out your presence valued highly by certain hall of famers
  12. Was he annoying when he hit the game winner the other day? Yeah he kept rubbing it in while making funny noises in in his postgame interview
  13. 2 outs, Lee hit, out. Our offense has changed how? Ahh, Padilla threw more then 5 pitches
  14. Probably his Pirates helmet and he wanted to keep it.. thus he had it re-painted... (Just a guess?) The C on the Cubs helmet isnt painted on, its actually applied on seperately.
  15. I am waaay to optimistic about this team considering we just dropped 3 of 4 from Arizona at home. Time to surely be deflated
  16. Nomar or Walker better he hitting second on Friday
  17. An OBP of .380 for a leadoff hitter is excellent. Most hitters with OBP's over .400 are middle of the order guys whose OBP's benefit from being pitched around. We did add an impact player today, trust me. I think the offense will be more consistant if we force the pitcher to get in and out of jams every day. This may be just opinion but it seems to me that the ability to draw a walk is a more consistant trait then the ability to get hits. Maybe not on a game to game basis, because it is still the days pitcher that throws the balls, but in the overall short run and long run someone that can take a pitch is a valueable cog, espeically at the top of the order
  18. On Tuesdays fans can get two tickets for the price of one. Ron said on the broadcast that there will be no "Two for Tuesday" on ticket sales, just on food and drinks. Hmmm..I got nothing to do this week. How far is Jackson, TN from Chicago?
  19. I applaud JH for being able to make a move that will surely help the team at least somewhat while almost all of the NL contenders were unable to do anything (Cardinals, Astros, Marlins come to mind). Maybe he is a bit too stubborn to give up those guys, but I think with Lawton we will see an immediate difference in how the offense operates, especially when Nomar comes back and shakes off the rust. Good job Jim!
  20. You can't just forget about Holly. You gotta find a spot for Holly. He has been hitting the ball hard lately. He's just unlucky dude. You also can't leave Neifi out of there. This guy has been getting clutch hits for us all year, you can't just throw him right back on the bench after everything he has done for us. /Dusty
  21. I sacrificed Enrique Wilson, but Modzilla wasn't pleased for some reason. Tough to impress him/her. Oh well, my dream of being a moderator is deferred :( Edit: Actually I think moderation powers are determined in sort of a BCS-style system. The moderators vote on a top 25 poster list each week. Also, the admins have their own poll too. Their polls are weighted with a group of other rating systems, including quality post points, humerous point posts, etc. Finally, the number of times a poster is warned either in a thread or via PM for pushing the line of offensiveness is added to their overall score. The persons with the lowest score when an extra moderator is needed have a faceoff in a hidden forum where they must argue a Cub related topic the best. After a two week period to argue, the thread is closed and a new moderator is determined.
  22. Hairstons OBP in July is .303 or so. I have no reservations about an OF with Murton-Lawton-Burnitz Left to Right Lawton Garciaparra Lee Ramirez Burnitz Walker Barrett Murton Pitcher
  23. I don't like how people are saying he is our LF. Ahh, Hairston has sad to say been horrible since being the leadoff man. Murton needs ABs, aghhhh
