  1. OMG ADAM DUNN!! In order, I'd like: Manny Dunn Soriano Of course knowing the Cubs, they will probably end up with neither
  2. He also rejected a trade last year. I think he said he would be open to accepting a trade for someone on the West Coast. I hope this is close enough
  3. I understand what his point is. NYC has 2 baseball teams and a lot of other stuff that people worried about. In the summer, the Red Sox are pretty much the focal point. In NYC he would share the spotlight in the media with Jeter, ARod, Sheffield, Randy Johnson, Mariano Rivera, Mike Piazza, Carlos Beltran, Pedro Martinez, etc etc. In Boston, he is the focal point along with Ortiz, Schilling and Varitek.
  4. They start talks for Baez with Zambrano, but now TB gets a few prospects for Huff and Baez? I don't think so. The Cubs could easily get a better package for Manny then that.
  5. Tell me something I don't know. The Aztecs didn't use the wheel in their day to day life--even when they had to haul huge stones to build their pyramids. But that's not because they didn't understand the concept of the wheel. Many toys made for Aztec children had wheels on them. For some reason, though, they chose not to incorporate it on a larger scale. Post of the year. And I'm not kidding. Seriously that was the best post of the year. Humor doesn't come placed that well anymore.
  6. I heard him on the score. His argument is that basically: A) Aramis is a defensive liability at 3B, Meuller would fix that and provide adequate numbers at 3B B) The Cubs would make their impact trade and get the only Ramirez that is potentially better then Aramis C) It was confusing the way he described it, but basically he said the Cubs would be saving $75 million by making that trade. I'm not sure how he got that number though sorry. It was never, nor will ever be proposed, its just Stone trying to make a logical trade to use on the radio to get people to call him. I'm against the trade obviously, but I guess there is a logical progression in his thought pattern. If we were to trade for Manny, chances are it would be in a multiple team trade with the third team being a seller that wouldn't mind taking on prospects and spare parts like Mitre/Welley/Corey/etc.
  7. Steve Stone on the Score just rementioned the ARam/Manny trade he proposed. Obviously there is nothing to it, he's just getting people to call in really
  8. This sucks, because I really would love a OF of Manny/Hairston/Burnitz. I'm starting to enjoy Burnitz out there. But it makes sense that they would want our only slightly above average OF if we were to get Manny. That is why I'm hoping for a 3 way trade with either the Reds, Rangers or even Mets that involves Cliff Floyd Wait that makes total sense. Mets have wanted Soriano, the Red Sox need an OF to replace Manny with power, the Cubs want Manny, Rangers want pitching from Cubs (Mitre/Rusch + Patterson). Four way deal between the Red Sox, Cubs, Rangers, Mets???
  9. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=95562 Boston Globe calls Manny a juvenile deliquent. This is escalating fast
  10. I'm not going to be one of those people that finds reasons to hate on people. I will agree, Dusty made good choices there. Good move to bring in Ronnie to run. At first I was a little confused about bringing in Barrett instead of Aramis, but I guess Barrett has more speed to leg out a potential DP, so that was a good move too. Good job Dusty! Now play smart every game plz
  11. OMG MACAIS DID THE WALKER SAFE SLIDE!
  12. cubs have a 2 run lead going into the 8th. Starter comes out to pitch after throwing over 100 pitches. Starter gives up 2 runs and blows the lead. Dusty comes out afterwards cluelessly to finally pull the start. Sound familiar? It should because we've seen it 2 times in the past 3 days

  14. Don't get too excited guys, but this is what I dug up from a friend in New England. Since if I worded this professionally, it would probably get every excited and think there is something to this, I will post it in IM convo form: UMfan83: u hear the manny rumor haha XXXXXXX: lol im seeing it all over tv UMfan83: really?? XXXXXXX: they had a breaking news thing about it on nesn UMfan83: WHAT? UMfan83: what was said XXXXXXX: no, it was just them telling explaining what the possbilities are XXXXXXX: mannys contract is so tough to trade with though UMfan83: did they mention the cubs UMfan83: because they were talking about it on the radio today XXXXXXX: yeah, they didnt explain it as much as you have but yes XXXXXXX: lucchino is apparently looking at all the possibilities UMfan83: what did they say about the cubs, just that they are one of the teams that they might be able to trade him to? XXXXXXX: the sox are trying to get matt lawton XXXXXXX: yeah UMfan83: i think cinci/cubs/red sox trade would be perfect for them UMfan83: because the reds wont trade dunn in the division UMfan83: so he goes to the sox XXXXXXX: my friend whos in boston said the people are going nuts there about manny UMfan83: so they think there is a chance if they find a deal they will trade him? XXXXXXX: yup XXXXXXX: because after the season the same thing will come up again XXXXXXX: this came up so sudden though
  15. I know its early, but what player does Matt Murton play like? Tony Gwynn?? :)
  16. Stupid Houston, can't they be the Lastros again. They are ridiculous, how come they can overachieve every year while we underachieve? I hate stupid baseball.
  17. Why would Hoops post something on Desipio and not post it here....lol
  18. Not only that.... if Hendry somehow expands it again to include Minnesota and can pry away JC Romero from them.... :D Good times -- my brain is swirling and my hopes are getting pretty high -- time to try and get myself back down to reality. The reality that no source is mentioning the Cubs (or any team) as prospective trading partners and this is all random NSBB speculation :) Yeah, I'm pretty deflated as well
  19. This is exactly the type of trade that Hendry would pull out of his you know what at the last minute. I think if the Red Sox want to get rid of a guy, they are smart enough to make the right trade, and for the second year in a row, the Cubs look to be a great trading partner.
  20. C Kendall 1B Thome 2B Giles/Soriano SS A. Rodriguez 3B Lowell LF M. Ramirez CF Wilkerson RF Dunn Pretty interesting lineup of players that we once drooled over and never got
  21. To be honest, the person that posted it was named "Sanjay" And since I haven't seen Hoops posting anything here, it leads me to believe some moran is mocking Hoops on Desipio.
  22. Could you imagine Hairston Nomar Lee M. Ramirez A. Ramirez Burnitz Walker Barrett OK, I'm going to go do something else in order to stop thinking about the impossible pipe dream.
  23. Good move for Houston, at least one team gets to goto the playoffs consistantly
