  1. The Rockies just DFAd Eddie Butler. Seems odd. I'd imagine there's a lot of interest.
  2. [tweet] [/tweet] MLB Pipeline releasing their Top 100 tomorrow and Eloy and Happ are among the prospects they're gonna have live-tweeting it.
  3. Greg Holland to the Rockies. They'll be interesting this year.
  4. I'd love to get Overton. Would be what we need, solid lefty/starter depth in AAA. Rather him than Caleb Smith. I'm sure we wouldn't miss Rollins or the guy we got from TB last week.
  5. Didn't see this coming. Forsythe is a good player but this is a great deal for the Rays. Have to wonder if they move another starter and if we're in on it.
  6. I like this a lot. He has been good when healthy and is a good 6th starter. If he is hurt and barely pitches, we don't lose much.
  7. Our dear former friend and bat flip artist Luis Valbuena is going to the Angels on a 2 year deal.
  8. [tweet] [/tweet]
  9. Is it just me or is this trade kinda bad for the Marlins?
  10. He had some decent number in limited innings last year (15 IP). 8.4 K/9, nearly 55% GB rate, averaged 92.5 on his FB and topped out at ~95, looks like he's pretty much a FB and Cutter/Slider pitcher out of the pen. Apparently he ended the season on the DL with forearm tightness. So that bodes well. Also odds that he spends more than a week before hitting waivers again?
  11. Bautista going back to Toronto on a 2 year deal, it sounds like. Also, Saunders signing with the Phillies.
  12. He thought they said it was the Clubs Convention, so you can see his hesitancy to show up
  13. Still a fan of sending Sczcur and a couple prospects to the Phillies for at least one of their starters. They have like 5 near MLB ready starters not in their current rotation. Also not against bringing Wood back and also signing someone like Brett Anderson, CJ Wilson or Doug Fister as more depth. It's not sexy but it has potential.
  14. Looks like Trevor Cahill is signing with the Padres. He's from that area and they're gonna give him a shot to start.
  15. My mom ordered me a framed press plate of the Tribune cover. About 8 weeks later it finally showed up apparently. I'm pretty jazzed about it. Also, for people still wanting swag, Lids is having a pretty sweet 50% off apparel and 25% off novelties deal. Got myself one of the long sleeved shirts for like 8 bucks. Some of the hats are just $10 too, I think.
  16. [tweet] [/tweet] Yeah that was fast
  17. I still can't believe they gave Desmond 70 millions bucks to play first base.
  18. [tweet] [/tweet] DiPoto at it again. Don't know much about the prospects the M's gave up, but Smith is a nice OF addition and I've liked Simmons for some time now. Could be an impact late inning arm for them. EDIT: Now this [tweet] [/tweet]
  19. [tweet]https://twitter.com/JulieDiCaro/status/818532097656811520[/tweet] So I guess Sean Marshall at some point retired.
  20. I'm still a believer in Corey Black being a big strikeout guy in the pen someday.
  21. Joel Sherman on the Cubs' pursuit of Tyson Ross: http://nypost.com/2017/01/05/cubs-shopping-with-audacious-6-man-rotation-in-mind/ He says the Cubs could re-sign Wood if they miss out on Ross, but it sounds more like him guessing than any new reports. MLBTR also throws out a few (gross) names
  22. Full chat here: http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/chicago-cubs-top-10-prospects-chat-2/#s0r2IerIwVMLPoBO.97 Some people in the organization think Eloy could be G. Stanton. Manuel also liked Matt Holliday as a comp to him.
  23. This is super random but I fell into a BR rabbit hole, and discovered that former Cub greats Justin Germano, Frankie de la Cruz and Ronny Cedeno played ball this year in the Italian Baseball League (which is also apparently a thing). Also, if you're wondering what Josh Vitters is up to, he is in the Atlantic League and had the 5th worst average in the league this year of qualified batters.
  24. Pretty shocked Underwood isn't in there but Manuel just mentioned in the chat that's he isn't high on him.
