  1. The Wintrust Wrigley Fly the W Bowl.
  2. Got a Javy Baez tee, the hoodie the team wore at the parade, a polo with the WS logo, a couple of the hats, a replica trophy and the Tribune commemorative book featuring the newspaper sports covers of the Cubs for the past 100 years (including the WS win covers). Also supposedly got the framed Tribune cover press plate but it didn't arrive in time for Christmas. There's a couple things that were on my list that I'm seeing if I can get cheap/on sale.
  3. Was the failure of Daniel Moskos injury related or a garden variety bust? From the way my Pirates fan friends talked about him, he seemed to be their Hayden Simpson. A reach who then had a bunch of injuries and ineffectiveness.
  4. Good for the Indians. Got a legit power threat in that lineup. If Brantley and the rotation are healthy, they'll be right back in there again. Another aspect of this is the market should heat up again. A lot of free agents and teams were waiting for the next domino to fall.
  5. Actually I just feel stupid in picking Mussina over Clemens. I guess I'm part of the BBWAA.
  6. Bagwell Bonds Guerrero Hoffman Edgar Martinez McGriff Mussina Raines Manny Pudge With Clemens, Sosa, Walker and Sheffield just missing for me.
  7. Cubs signed Elliot Soto to a minor league deal. He was previously in the system and traded to the Marlins for Dan Haren. Soto replaces Logan Watkins, who signed with the Tigers, In Iowa.
  8. I have a feeling he ends up here on a minor league deal.
  9. I wonder if Uehera was Plan B then? Doubt we would've signed both. The thing with that is we were connected to Uehara during the Winter Meetings and Ziegler just signed a few days ago. So either we were a "mystery team" a couple weeks ago or Theo and Jed want a super pen.
  10. [tweet] [/tweet]
  11. Former Cub great Clayton Richard (who somehow managed a 2.52 ERA after being released) re-signs with the Padres. 1 year, $1.75 mil.
  12. According to Roster Resource, we have recently signed relievers Jhondaniel Medina, Maikel Cleto, and Daniel Corcino (a former Top 100 prospect) to minor league deals.
  13. I keep going back to the Phillies, especially now after the Buchholz trade. We have to be a match somehow. I'd think they'd be a team in need of someone like Szczur. They gave Tyler Goeddel nearly 300 plate appearances of a .549 OPS last year. It'll take more than that, but they have Adam Morgan, Nick Pivetta, Ben Lively, Mark Appel, Zach Efflin, Jake Thompson, and Alec Asher all ticketed for AAA as of now.
  14. Pure salary dump. I like it for the Phillies. Reminds me of us in 2012. If Buchholz has a good first half, he gets dealt for prospects. If he sucks, they're on the hook for just one year.
  15. Daniel Hudson to the Pirates, 2 years and $11 mil
  16. Nightengale reporting that talks broke off between Cubs and Tigers for Wilson. Thought because it's Nightengale, he could have been talking about anyone.
  17. oh to be left handed. Can't wait to see what Logan and Blevins get.
  18. Lefty depth back in the organization [tweet] [/tweet]
  19. This is all really on point. No problems here. Was also wondering if we couldn't toss Sczcur and a lottery ticket to the Phillies for Appel if they've soured on him. Their outfield depth is slim and they have a lot of intriguing SP options in the upper minors and on the MLB team.
  20. I know we were connected to him earlier this offseason but what are the thoughts on Derek Holland?
  21. [tweet] [/tweet]
  22. Yeah...the lack of depth still bothers me, though. Seems like Hammel on his option would be a great option right about now. But whatever. Still have Brooks, Zas, Ryan Williams, and others in AAA. And I doubt they're content with just that going into the season. I would be content with Monty being the 5th starter but I expect they'll add a couple more starters.
  23. I like Wilson and I know there's a user on here who has been championing for him all offseason. I do wonder what the cost would be. Tigers got him last year for Chad Green and Luis Cessa, who are both intriguing arms and will likely be on the Yankees' 25 man next year.
  24. It is interesting that's the tweet he sends out, rather than something like "Fowler signing with Cardinals, set to take physical" Also: [tweet]https://twitter.com/williamfleitch/status/807017393318981632[/tweet]
