  1. [tweet] [/tweet] I was thinking about the possibility of getting him and Rivera in the same deal. Would certainly fit the Montgomery-type deal we've talked about.
  2. The farther I scrolled down, the more I was expecting the last few spots to be blank filled with like "29. Future 1st Round Draft Pick or IFA signing" It honestly might as well be. I'm sure Mayo or whoever put the list together just gave up trying after about 18 and threw names out there. This list will no doubt be vastly different in a few weeks/months.
  3. Definitely Almora, possibly Happ. Maybe something like Almora, Clifton, Hatch, Candelario and Zagunis? i wouldn't trade happ in this deal in a million horsefeathering years I wouldn't deal Happ either. It really depends on how much the Tigers like guys in our system and how much of Verlander's salary they'd kick in.
  4. This is what I've been saying What would you guys expect the cost to be? Definitely Almora, possibly Happ. Maybe something like Almora, Clifton, Hatch, Candelario and Zagunis?
  5. Anymore ridiculous than me recently realizing he is Clay Bellinger's kid?
  6. MLB Pipeline updated their Cubs Top 30 and it's somethin http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017?list=chc This is their new Top 10: 1. Candelario 2. de la Cruz 3. Albertos 4. Alzolay 5. Lange 6. Little 7. Caratini 8. Hatch 9. Zagunis 10. Paredes
  7. Honestly how much worse would the pen be off if we call up someone like Maples or Pena every so often as opposed to dealing away prospects for another reliever? Strop and Rondon have also been pretty solid recently. Rondon has struck out 14 and allowed no earned runs in his last 9 innings. Strop has allowed just one earned run over his last 12.2 innings. And Duensing has also been very solid. And again, these are our 4-6 best relievers in the pen. On the Darvish rumor, how would we even match up on a deal?
  8. And yes, Lukas Schiraldi is the son of Calvin.
  9. Where do you guys think Tseng fits in? He has looked pretty good this year and has pitched well (so far) as a 22 year old in AAA.
  10. David Phelps to the Mariners for 4 prospects. That's one Cubs target off the list. Also sounds like the the Astros are pushing hard for Sonny Gray. My hope is they include Jed Lowrie in the deal because he is only allowed to play for those two teams.
  11. The Orioles. Britton has one more year of control after this. Despite the forearm injury, the trade package is going to have to rival the Chapman trade for the Orioles to move him. Yeah, then I think we would be out. Wouldn't hurt to see what it costs. Would Brach be a better target if we're looking at pen arms or would he cost just as much? I know we've been mentioned with Brad Hand but the Padres are asking for an Andrew Miller return.
  12. Britton, Gausman, Joseph for Jeimer, Zagunis, Clifton and Caratini. Who says no?
  13. Nats apparently still want Justin Wilson or another reliever on the market.
  14. I like Teheran as a decent, young and controllable starter who could be a good....number 3... starter. It really all depends on what Atlanta asks for. They are selling low on him but he does have the track record. Maybe we can trade Caratini back to them so we end up getting Teheran for James Russell and Bonifacio, lol.
  15. Oh my: [tweet] [/tweet]
  16. I like this trade the more I think about it. I'm over the initial shock. It's really a fair deal for both sides. The reports I'm seeing make it sound like his slow start was a bit of a fluke. Also it's pretty damn cool we have him for three more years. It's like he's on a 3 year 31 mil deal after this season. Pretty ridiculous for someone his caliber.
  17. I've been trying to guess what else is on the Cubs shopping list for this deadline, and what deals are still possible after flipping Eloy & Cease. Backup C? LHRP? Another starter, probably more in the Monty 2016 mold? All of the above? Still all for Gausman if you're talking about someone like Monty 2016. I mentioned in the Starting pitcher thread that Gausman and Caleb Joseph might be a good package, based on cost and our needs.
  18. Ervin Santana (who for some reason now follows me on Twitter) is a rental and playing for a team in a playoff hunt.
  19. Looking at some options, now that we have Quintana, what would Gausman and Caleb Jospeh cost? Gausman can fill the Montgomery role and Joseph rates as a solid framer and has a decent bat.
  20. I DO love though that we have Quintana through 2020, and the secondary pieces in the deal are basically roster filler. So we can still trade Jeimer and Zagunis and Almora/Happ for another piece before the deadline. What does this make our top 10 look like now?
  21. Like, I love getting Quintana. I don't love giving up both Eloy and Cease. Wish we could have at least gotten a secondary piece.
  22. Nope. Zero. Fanbase would lose their minds. He is their ace and they're probably losing Cueto after this season. Plus I'm not sure I'd give up what it would cost to get him. Probably all of Schwarber, Happ, Eloy, Cease, and more. But.....that said.....thoughts on seeing what the Mets want for deGrom?
