  1. Oh man, the Meph era. #memories I know this gets asked every so often but was he the one behind the anti-NSBB website?
  2. I totally forgot about him being "untouchable". And that was like 3 years before we actually traded him as a throw-in. Dark times.
  3. They save about $2 million. I'm guessing they put that toward in-season moves.
  4. Not unsurprising. Last spot probably goes to Butler, since he's out of options. Maybe one of Simmons or Maples if Strop has to start the year on the DL. Best of luck to him. Carl's Jr all that's left from the Garza trade haul.
  5. Knew this was coming but still a bummer. What a Cubs tenure. I'm glad he's in Philly so I'll get to see him pitch. Kinda annoyed I missed him in Florida. I was at the Phillies game in Sarasota against the Orioles when it was announced. Place was freaking out. (side note: pitching for the Orioles was Cashner, which I for some reason found amusing).
  6. Went to a few Grapefruit League games. And I got to meet former Cubs great Sam Fuld after the one game. He's apparently a Phillies asst. coach now.
  7. Webster was also a rumored target from the Garza era. It's kinda amusing how many of those guys we still ended up with anyway and it was because their arms fell off and they were rehabbing (Webster, Hultzen, Casey Kelly, Jacob Turner).
  8. Weren't we trying to get him for Garza at some point?
  9. No Mekkes? And it's still crazy to see Underwood and Galindo on this list. Feels like they've been in the system forever. Probably says more about the system than it does about them.
  10. How does Roster Resource calculate their projections? Because it looks like we're gonna win 100 games easily if everybody hits like they predict: https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-chicago-cubs/
  11. I know odorizzis name had come up here a few times and most people were against the idea, but if I recall it was mostly because they didn't want to give up what they assumed Tampa would want for him, which was probably way more than what he was worth. But I don't think anything here would've been opposed to acquiring him for one prospect at the back end of our top 30. Yeah they basically just traded him for Zach Short, right? I remember like a year ago there were thoughts the Rays wanted an Almora or Cease.
  12. What are the Rays doing? That's all they got for Odorizzi? And basically replacing Dickerson with Cron?
  13. Haahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha /breathes hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
  14. Gotta give the Orioles credit, they've managed to stay mostly competitive while being inept at building a steady rotation for several years.
  15. I remember wanting him a couple years ago. Throws hard, has posted good numbers in the minors and in his brief time in the majors. Health is the big concern, obviously.
  16. I'd rather go with Zagunis/Hannemman/Bourjus as the extra OF rather than spend money on Jay. Also, why? Old news, right? http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2758896-yankees-cubs-rumored-to-be-among-teams-interested-in-trading-for-jake-odorizzi
  17. I think that's mostly Rogers being an ass. Monty definitely wants to start but I don't think he'll throw a tantrum over it. He'll get a few starts this season for sure. A thing I've wondered in the past, would it be weird to go 6 man rotation most of the season? Or rotate Monty and Chatwood out of the 5th spot?
  18. Enough with the terrible Yu puns please... Can we have a moratorium on them at least till opening day? Yu mad?
  19. I am v. pleased. That's a good deal. Not thrilled with going 6 years but if there are opt-outs and it's front loaded, that makes it better.
  20. Insane that this is the market. Last year he would've gotten at least twice that much.
  21. He pitched 30 innings in 2002 (yup, 2002), and that is the extent of his MLB experience. His numbers in the KBO the past few years haven't been too bad. You do you, dude.
