I remember wanting him a couple years ago. Throws hard, has posted good numbers in the minors and in his brief time in the majors. Health is the big concern, obviously.
I'd rather go with Zagunis/Hannemman/Bourjus as the extra OF rather than spend money on Jay. Also, why? Old news, right? http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2758896-yankees-cubs-rumored-to-be-among-teams-interested-in-trading-for-jake-odorizzi
I think that's mostly Rogers being an ass. Monty definitely wants to start but I don't think he'll throw a tantrum over it. He'll get a few starts this season for sure. A thing I've wondered in the past, would it be weird to go 6 man rotation most of the season? Or rotate Monty and Chatwood out of the 5th spot?
He pitched 30 innings in 2002 (yup, 2002), and that is the extent of his MLB experience. His numbers in the KBO the past few years haven't been too bad. You do you, dude.
Hey, I wanted them to get him.....5 years ago! Still, a cheap, serviceable outfielder who plays good defense and isn't useless with the bat. Not a bad 5th-6th outfielder option.
Yeah, the Astros though are an interesting trade partner because they have a full rotation. Guys like McHugh and Peacock are currently slated for the pen. I wonder what it would cost to get either of them.
I tagged Thomas Ian Nicholas in my tweet about loving the Cubs because I loved the movie Rookie of the Year when I was like 5 and he like the tweet and responded with a few quotes from the movie.
Yeah I listened to an interview Theo gave about a year ago, and he credits Kevin Towers a lot for teaching him about how a FO works and giving him a chance. Lots of people inside the game liked the guy. Yeah I heard that too. Seemed like a good guy.
Would it be odd or a waste of resources to go full time 6 man rotation? Or rotate Monty and Chatwood out of the 5 spot? I'm just trying to think of ways to maximize depth and help with health and injuries.
Player may sign soon. But they might not. Team A is the front-runner but other teams involved. I didnt read the post, I just saw "Heyman special" and took a guess.
You also have teams like the Phillies with a big need for a SP and a lot of money but still on the fringe of competing. I'm sure they could offer close to asking price for Arrieta or Darvish but I could see them not wanting to go to a club that is in rebuilding mode for another year or two still.
The Rays just signed a guy named Forrest Snow, which sounds totally made up. I looked him up, and well, he enjoys Seattle. Then spend 2010-2016 with Seattle before being released.
