  1. I would not mind checking in on the price. Also it looks like the Phillies are trying to trade Jimmy Rollins before the season starts. The Tigers make sense as a trade partner there. I could also see the Yankees, because of course.
  2. Yeah there have been some underwhelming reports on him this spring, too. I think I read his velocity was down.
  3. They call us, we ask for Bradley, they hang up. That's been the story all offseason. There's no reason for us to loosen up our trade demands now. If we don't get what we want, then we extend him or deal him at the deadline.
  4. C Jake Fox 1B Brian Dopirak 2B Bobby Hill SS Lou Montanez 3B David Kelton OF Corey Patterson OF Felix Pie OF Nic Jackson Yeah, I don't think they all hit their ceilings. The original lineup posted is the dream but I bet the actual lineup looks nothing like that. One of the "core four" is going to be traded or make like one of the above guys I listed.
  5. Ervin Santana to the Braves, one year and $14.1 million. And the Blue Jays aren't happy: Does this make them come back to the table about Shark?
  6. Man, Eric Hinske put on the pounds after he retired. That aside, the kid in me thinks it will be kind of fun to see him and Mueller as coaches.
  7. I keep thinking of him as the system replacement for DJ LeMahieu and Ronald Torreyes, undersized infielder with a very strong hit tool. I'd love to see what he can do as he moves up in the system and hopefully stays healthy.
  8. There are a lot of interesting names on that list. Edwards will be protected. And we may see Baez and Henricks on the big league club this year so they'll likely be added long before needed anyway. I also forgot McNutt and Nick Struck were still here.
  9. Is this a make or break year for Maples? Will be 22, struggled mightily in a brief stint in A-ball and has durability issues.
  10. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=9927&position=OF#value Yeah, it's a big jump but he is arguably worth it. His bWar has been 3.9 or better his last three full seasons and Oliver has him with at least a 3 WAR in each of the next three seasons.
  11. Well that's a pleasant surprise. Now let's see if that has helped his range at all.
  12. Well there goes Gardner off the market. Four year $52 million extension with the Yankees.
  13. I know the Cubs won't land either of them, but I would prefer either over Darwin Barney. I would rather start Bonifacio or Valbuena at second than Barney. I'd love to have Franklin or Miller or even Ackley.
  14. http://tracking.si.com/2014/02/17/matt-garza-passed-angels-vacation/
  15. Braves extend Kimbrel. And Reds are working toward an extension with Homer Bailey, reportedly six years and about $100 million. That seems like a lot for him.
  16. Kind of vague. Hope it's nothing too serious. Apparently it is some lingering neck issue and he didn't want to pitch through it, though he hasn't ruled out pitching next year/
  17. Great speed and good glove and also not useless with the bat. I'd much rather have him at second than Barney. I like the signing.
  18. Rays trade Jose Lobaton and two minor leaguers (supposedly in their Top 30) for Nate Karns. Am I missing something? Is a 25 year old in AA worth a decent backup catcher and two somewhat intriguing prospects?
  19. So he could miss the beginning of the season? May make the Mariners more interesting in a move of some sort.
  20. When did we waive these two guys? I would imagine one was to clear space for Hammel?
  21. I had the same thoughts on Hultzen. I'd love to have him but we played the injured prospect card already on Vizcaino and he still hasn't thrown a pitch for us. I'd love to buy low on Ackley, too. Getting Ackley and Paxton would be nice, but I'm not sure the Mariners would do it. I think I would rather just hold of until the deadline.
  22. Brian LaHair back to the States. Minor league deal to the Indians.
