  1. No, but he's definitelt on the sauce. Well duh he was a Cardinal How do you like them apples?
  2. I keep thinking an EJax for Maybin trade makes too much sense. Both need a change of scenery. Both have similar money left on their contract. Jackson gives the Padres an innings eater who could benefit from playing in a pitchers' park and Maybin plays good defense in CF and is a nice rebound candidate. Thoughts?
  3. Strikes me as an odd signing. Not a bad gamble on a one year deal. But I still can't get over the Wright non tender. Is the plan then Doubront or Wada and Rosscup or Jokisch as the lefties in the pen?
  4. Well they're going for it. Mariners and Royals wanted him but weren't willing to go three years.
  5. I just re-read this for the third time and it's still hilarious. I had been waiting for this since the moment Lester signed, haha.
  6. Give him to us. And i'm not talking about Zimmerman. Yeah Danny Espinosa would be a solid addition for us.
  7. Why do the Marlins make this trade? What a great deal for the Dodgers.
  8. I got this. Seriously pumped about this move though. I woke up to the news this morning and it's easily the most excited I've been at 6 am.
  9. I like the deal. Losing Mejia is a bummer but he's a long ways away and we have a lot of interesting arms in the lower minors.
  10. PLEASE BE TRUE. If nocode is wrong, the wrath will at least be enjoyable to watch.
  11. Dodgers acquire Chris Heisey from the Reds. He's pretty much just a 4th outfielder but that's now a crowded OF for LA. One would think they have a deal or two in the near future.
  12. Carrie Muskat ‏@CarrieMuskat 54s54 seconds ago #Cubs tender contracts to 8 arb eligible players: Wood, Arrieta, Coghlan, Valbuena, Strop, Ruggiano, Doubront, Castillo Carrie Muskat ‏@CarrieMuskat 1m1 minute ago #Cubs non-tender catcher John Baker and LHP Wesley Wright Why not tender a contract to Wright? He was good last year and the market for lefty relievers has been skyrocketing.
  13. The Rays narrowed their finalists down to Wakamatsu, Cash and.....Ibanez. So, no Dave Martinez. Does he come here?
  14. Not sure if this is new or not, but MLB's top 20 Cubs prospects: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2014/#list=chc
  15. At the moment, we have zero quality infield subs. Valbuena and Alcantara would both be in our starting 8 with what we have now. Important part in bold. It's still pretty early in the offseason and Watkins could be a decent bench bat. I'll hold judgement but I think I would like to have seen more of Vizcaino with some time removed from the injuries. I do wonder the Braves' motive for the trade though. Isn't their middle infield depth pretty bad?
  16. This strikes me as an odd trade. I don't mind La Stella but he doesn't seem to have much upside and we have a few other "supersubs" in Alcantara and Valbuena and I'd have thought Vizcaino had a decent shot at the pen next year.
  17. Also, is it just me or is the idea of spending money on Robertson or Andrew Miller undesirable? We can go into next year with Rondon, Strop, Ramirez, Vizcaino, Wright, Rivero and Wada/Turner/Straily/Doubront/Parker/Grimm/Rosscup/etc. Decent pen with some depth. Signing one of those two doesn't seem like a good use of resources to me.
  18. i can't imagine a team carrying 3 catchers unless one of those catchers hits well enough to play semi-regularly at another position (probably first base). I don't know that they would keep all three at once but that would probably be the primary three. They love Stewart's defense and Sanchez was their first rounder a few years ago.
  19. I can get behind Tyson Ross. The Padres' offense is so bad that most of our hitting prospects would be an improvement.
  20. Yankees trade Cervelli to the Pirates for pitcher Justin Wilson. Guessing the Pirates plan to go with a three headed monster of Cervelli, Christ Stewart and Tony Sanchez next year at catcher, barring other moves.
  21. And Arrieta got 3 Cy Young votes. By math, Rizzo should get 4 MVP votes tomorrow.
  22. I thought it might be amusing if someone threw Renteria a vote for Manager of the Year. Didn't happen, but Jesse Rodgers gave Terry Collins a vote, lol.
  23. Wow, I love Zimmermann but it seems weird to pull a trigger on a trade this early in the offseason. Maybe it's an offer too good to pass up? What are the odds we could also pry Span away?
  24. Didn't we throw around the idea of Edwin Jackson for Ethier as a change-of-scenery trade? Is that something people would still be interested in? I'd imagine it would take more on each side regarding extra players and $$$. Didn't the metrics say Ethier is a passable CFer?
  25. In case anyone was wondering, Hendricks got a couple NL ROY votes.
