  1. OK, so which of Bryant's home runs will be the one to break the video board? Or does Soler beat him to it?
  2. Need to sell tickets to that Cape May Courthouse crowd just looking for an excuse to get to the Bank! Well they just announced they're serving hard liquor at concession stands this season. Gotta put people in the seats somehow. Last year me and some friends sat lower level along the 3rd base line for a game against the Mets and tickets were like $30. Eagles chants were already starting. It was June.
  3. I had been hoping Szczur would have an awesome few weeks or something and convince someone like Amaro that he needed to have him. Cmon, Rube. Don't let me down.
  4. Coke made the roster.
  5. Gonna go with an ERA around 3.75-4.00. I think he starts off awesome but the league starts to figure him out in the second half.
  6. Braves release James Russell. That didn't last long. Any chance we scoop him back up?
  7. From Brett: http://www.bleachernation.com/2015/03/27/cubs-reportedly-looking-for-pitching-could-try-to-get-it-for-welington-castillo/ Who would be a possible target?
  8. The Dodgers spent $115.5 mil on Olivera, Alex Guerrero and Erisbel Arruebarruena. And they're all behind Jimmy Rollins, Howie Kendrick, Juan Uribe, Justin Turner and Darwin Barney on the depth chart. Must be nice to have the money.
  9. A scouting report of Will Ferrell: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/112523810/actor-will-ferrells-scouting-report-talent-evaluators-weigh-in
  10. I don't think an offer of Wood, Castillo, Almora, Vogelbach and another lower tier prospect seems unrealistic. Those are good players who become starters and top prospects for the Phillies. However, It IS unrealistic that Amaro would accept that deal. Though I'm not sure how much better an offer he could field. I get the feeling Hamels isn't going anywhere before July.
  11. Yeah, losing Darvish is a huge blow. And I doubt trading anything for Travis Wood makes any difference in that divisional race. They'll probably go with what they have.
  12. Well just when the Rangers thought their luck was turning around....
  13. ESPN was at Cubs Spring Training today. Kirkjian said something like he expects the Cubs to trade Baez or Castro at some point this year to make room for Addison Russell. Still, the "experts" assume there's no room for everyone?
  14. Phillies training camp is delightfully awkward, from Hamels saying he wants to win somewhere else, to Papelbon saying he needs to talk to the front office, to Amaro saying he shouldn't have said the club would be better off without Ryan Howard to this: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/cliff-lee-answers--tough--phillies-questions-with-magic-8-ball-231936890.html
  15. Don't we have enough middle infield and pitching depth that we don't need to collect guys from the Dodgers and turn them into pitchers?
  16. So many weird parts to this story, from what they did, to the fact that Zaun doesn't think it was a big deal, to the fact that he thinks Brett Lawrie "failed" in Toronto is because no veterans "taught him respect."
  17. http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2015/2/19/8070009/2015-mlb-breakout-candidates-preview 3 of the 5 are former Cubs. I don't see any of them "breaking out."
  18. Assuming no trades or moves made bring in major leaguers: Lester Arrieta Hammel Hendricks Rondon Strop Grimm Ramirez Motte Turner Wada Rivero Bueno Montero Ross Rizzo Baez Castro La Stella J. Herrera Olt Alcantara Soler Fowler Denorfia Coghlan Wood, Jackson, Castillo, Sweeney, Doubront all traded or released during ST. Herrera breaks camp as another infield option who can play everywhere until Bryant gets the call.
  19. Not 2-for-1, no. That would be insane. But I was just thinking out loud if some kind of deal could be worked out with the Phillies.
  20. I wouldn't give up what Amaro is likely "requiring" for Hamels. He does really want to unload Lee though because of money still owed and has been interested in Castillo and Travis Wood. Any kind of deal that could be made there?
  21. Yeah, I like this and the Feliciano signing. Both could be good additions to the pen or they flame out and cost us nothing. That's assuming Britton sticks around longer than a week.
  22. Red Sox trade Ranaudo to the Rangers for Robbie Ross. Has Ranaudo's star fallen? I would think he was more valuable than that.
  23. That is a deep pen. How many of those guys have options left? Someone has to get traded, no?
  24. Ah damn. That sucks. Bummed he never got to see the Cubs win it all.
