  1. Speaking of terrible, Jon Heyman's "8 Dream Trade Scenarios"! http://www.todaysknuckleball.com/inside-baseball-with-jon-heyman/dream-trade-scenarios/
  2. Marlins are an odd team to deal with. I could see them not wanting to part with him bc he is still under team control. Also, we have a former Yankee starter-turned-reliever in Warren.
  3. Cardinals will sign him up soon, I'm sure.
  4. New update: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ClAuJQoXEAAmfSz.jpg:large Zobrist, Bryant, and Russell have strengthened their leads. Fowler and Rizzo pretty comfortably in the lead. It's a very real possibility we have 7+ All Stars (all five of those guys plus Arrieta, Lester and possibly Rondon, Lackey and/ Hammel. Oh and David Ross).
  5. Darwin Barney currently has a higher bWAR than Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion.
  6. FINALLY. Maybe he stays hurt or can't regain his form from the last couple years but this is still a good signing. Of course it comes after Richard goes two whole appearances without allowing a run.
  7. He has a .406 OPS and 47 strikeouts in his last 98 at bats.
  8. I just noticed Dillon Maples is still in the system. Where Chris Huseby at?
  9. http://www.bleachernation.com/2016/06/13/cubs-claim-hard-throwing-righty-r-j-alvarez-off-of-waivers-from-as/ I recall him being an intriguing prospect pretty recently. Throws hard, strikes guys out. Could be a nice pen arm if he sticks.
  10. I could see Jeimar intriguing the Yankees. Headley has been ass this year and they don't have much in the pipeline at third (or really anywhere). I'd be more willing to give up more for Betances than the other two, but I don't want to pay a king's ransom either. Yanks could try to use the Ken Giles trade as framework for a Betances deal.
  11. I totally forgot he was in the system. Didn't we talk him out of a college commitment with a big bonus?
  12. Still not sure how I feel about this trade. I know Mendy's star had fallen but I'd have thought we could get something more if we ended up trading him. Oh well.
  13. I'm going to Cubs-Phillies on Monday. A rainout before then would help both our causes! I actually went to a Cubs-Phillies game last year too that Arrieta was slated to pitch and it got rained out. I'm due a make-up.
  14. Matusz to the Braves with a draft pick for two minor leaguers, and the Braves have already DFAd Matusz. All about the pick. Arrieta 2.0?
  15. Yankees-Rangers game in NY. In the bleachers. Friends were screaming at Josh Hamilton all game "We've got Coke in the bullpen!" Probably the most use anyone has gotten out of Phil Coke.
  16. A couple years ago at the trade deadline, he went around hugging teammates in the dugout during a game, putting everyone on trade alert. Turns out he was just trolling reporters. I also recall during the roster introductions at the all star game a couple years ago, they got to Matt Moore and announced "Ben Zobrist" instead and Moore looked lost and surprised and Zobrist had an impish grin on his face like he was behind it. Seems like a prankster and doesn't take himself seriously, even if he may be a religious nut.
  17. 1. Torres 2. Contreras 3. Happ 4. Underwood 5. Almora 6. McKinney 7. Edwards 8. Cease 9. de la Cruz 10. Candelario 11. Jimenez 12. P. Johnson 13. Sands 14. Zagunis 15. Caratini 16. EJM 17. Vogelbach 18. Stinnett 19. Kellogg 20. Black
  18. Whole lotta former Cubs prospects in the news today. Also, the Rangers released the great Donnie Veal, who is still somehow hanging around, and the Braves called up former Marlon Byrd trade throw-in Hunter Cervenka to make his MLB debut.
  19. Diggs had a solid season but there are a lot of question marks at receiver. Vikings select Josh Doctson, WR, TCU
  20. Former catcher Scott Servais. Dude was the bomb. Apparently Montero was the first Cubs catcher to homer on Opening Day since Servais. I saw a tweet from Muskat and RT'd it with "lol scott servais" and Servais's daughter favorited it. I know, cool story.
  21. So Trevor Story has 4 HR through his first 3 games. That's a heck of a .... tale.
  22. Had to happen. Go Nova.
  23. Schwarber, Bryant and Rizzo combine to hit 5,000 home runs.
  24. I'll take the Vikings.
  25. For anyone who cares Are there anymore Izturises in baseball or that it? That Maddux for Cesar Izturis trade still irrationally angers me.
