    The Angels hired Brendan Harris as a scout, meaning he retired. Always liked him, dating back to when he was a prospect with us. I remember I was on vacation in upstate NY when the Normar trade happened and there was a front cover story on Harris being in the trade because he was a local kid. Memories.

    Hopefully your wrong and it's Coghlan + prospects to the Rays for McGee and we will have a 4-headed monster of an OF with Schwarbs-Heyward-Fowler-Soler Expand the deal Soler + Coghlan + prospects for Odorizzi, Jennings, and McGee. Sign Fowler and you have lots of versatility with 3 guys who can play CF or corner OF including a switch hitter. Remind me why we want Desmond Jennings?

    I would like that very much, though not sure how feasible it is. Rays are believed to like Villanueva and Vogelbach, though not sure exactly how much. Maybe those two, Coghlan and someone like Blackburn/Sands/Steele/Williams?

    That's what the buzz is now among the beat writers and national guys. They have the pieces to make it happen and also could feel they have to given the additions to the Giants and Dbacks/losing out on Grienke and Price.

    Seriously. Sox and Dodgers come out pretty well in this trade. Reds deal their biggest non-abusive closer trade piece and the return for them is pretty meh.

    Former Cubs minor leaguer Lincoln Holdzkom was killed in a car accident. We acquired him in the infamous Todd Wellemeyer trade with the Marlins. He was 33 and pitching in New Zealand. Sad news.

    Pretty thrilled no one took Corey Black. I think he could be a decent pen arm next year.

    Seems kinda silly to deal Bethancourt because he is "blocked" by two mediocre players. Also, what is that now, like 32 trades between the Braves and Padres in the past year?
