  1. PLEASE BE TRUE. If nocode is wrong, the wrath will at least be enjoyable to watch.
  2. Dodgers acquire Chris Heisey from the Reds. He's pretty much just a 4th outfielder but that's now a crowded OF for LA. One would think they have a deal or two in the near future.
  3. Carrie Muskat ‏@CarrieMuskat 54s54 seconds ago #Cubs tender contracts to 8 arb eligible players: Wood, Arrieta, Coghlan, Valbuena, Strop, Ruggiano, Doubront, Castillo Carrie Muskat ‏@CarrieMuskat 1m1 minute ago #Cubs non-tender catcher John Baker and LHP Wesley Wright Why not tender a contract to Wright? He was good last year and the market for lefty relievers has been skyrocketing.
  4. The Rays narrowed their finalists down to Wakamatsu, Cash and.....Ibanez. So, no Dave Martinez. Does he come here?
  5. Not sure if this is new or not, but MLB's top 20 Cubs prospects: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2014/#list=chc
  6. At the moment, we have zero quality infield subs. Valbuena and Alcantara would both be in our starting 8 with what we have now. Important part in bold. It's still pretty early in the offseason and Watkins could be a decent bench bat. I'll hold judgement but I think I would like to have seen more of Vizcaino with some time removed from the injuries. I do wonder the Braves' motive for the trade though. Isn't their middle infield depth pretty bad?
  7. This strikes me as an odd trade. I don't mind La Stella but he doesn't seem to have much upside and we have a few other "supersubs" in Alcantara and Valbuena and I'd have thought Vizcaino had a decent shot at the pen next year.
  8. Also, is it just me or is the idea of spending money on Robertson or Andrew Miller undesirable? We can go into next year with Rondon, Strop, Ramirez, Vizcaino, Wright, Rivero and Wada/Turner/Straily/Doubront/Parker/Grimm/Rosscup/etc. Decent pen with some depth. Signing one of those two doesn't seem like a good use of resources to me.
  9. i can't imagine a team carrying 3 catchers unless one of those catchers hits well enough to play semi-regularly at another position (probably first base). I don't know that they would keep all three at once but that would probably be the primary three. They love Stewart's defense and Sanchez was their first rounder a few years ago.
  10. I can get behind Tyson Ross. The Padres' offense is so bad that most of our hitting prospects would be an improvement.
  11. Yankees trade Cervelli to the Pirates for pitcher Justin Wilson. Guessing the Pirates plan to go with a three headed monster of Cervelli, Christ Stewart and Tony Sanchez next year at catcher, barring other moves.
  12. And Arrieta got 3 Cy Young votes. By math, Rizzo should get 4 MVP votes tomorrow.
  13. I thought it might be amusing if someone threw Renteria a vote for Manager of the Year. Didn't happen, but Jesse Rodgers gave Terry Collins a vote, lol.
  14. Wow, I love Zimmermann but it seems weird to pull a trigger on a trade this early in the offseason. Maybe it's an offer too good to pass up? What are the odds we could also pry Span away?
  15. Didn't we throw around the idea of Edwin Jackson for Ethier as a change-of-scenery trade? Is that something people would still be interested in? I'd imagine it would take more on each side regarding extra players and $$$. Didn't the metrics say Ethier is a passable CFer?
  16. In case anyone was wondering, Hendricks got a couple NL ROY votes.
  17. Is anyone worried about Hamels' arm falling off (any more than the FA pitchers)? If we would be looking at a trade for Hamels, I know he was total garbage last but would taking on Dom Brown mean taking on less money/giving up less in return? Change of scenery could help, he's much better against righties and could be a decent platoon. Just thinking out loud.
  18. I don't want Cervelli that much and he has more value to the Yankees than Logan Watkins. I'm intrigued by JR Murphy though if Martin/Montero/other options don't work.
  19. Gold Gloves: C Yadier Molina, Cardinals 1B Adrian Gonzalez, Dodgers 2B DJ LeMahieu, Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado, Rockies SS Andrelton Simmons, Braves LF Christian Yelich, Marlins CF Juan Lagares, Mets RF Jason Heyward, Braves P Zack Greinke, Dodgers American League C Salvador Perez, Royals 1B Eric Hosmer, Royals 2B Dustin Pedroia, Red Sox 3B Kyle Seager, Mariners SS J.J. Hardy, Orioles LF Alex Gordon, Royals CF Adam Jones, Orioles RF Nick Markakis, Orioles P Dallas Keuchel, Astros Was rather surprised to see DJ win it. Didn't realize he had such a good season with the glove. Also I know the awards are a joke, but Yadier winning again?
  20. Collected a lot more as a kid and sold much of what I had to collectors and at a garage sale but held on to most of my favorite/good cards and still occasionally make a purchase. I pulled an auto/game used jersey Nolan Ryan card out of a pack years ago. Also have an Ernie Banks RC that's in good shape (though it isn't graded) and have a Solly Hofman card from 1910 that I'm fond of.
  21. We talk about Bosio working his magic but what's going on with that magic with Edwin Jackson? Pardon my ignorance if this has been discussed more, but his ERA has been more than a run higher than his FIP back to back years and he is showing no signs of getting better. Is his velocity down?
  22. Hey now. I don't claim intelligence.
  23. I'm guessing no one wanted to give up anything for him. Can't blame them.
  24. Lies. Make something happen. Would love to add Turner to the fold. Our depth in the rotation for next year isn't too shabby.
  25. Bryan Morris has allowed 1 run in 31.1 innings since being traded to the Marlins. That's a 0.29 ERA. His FIP, however, is 2.59.
