    I have really liked the A's offseason so far. That's a good trade for them. Getting a buy-low in Pomeranz and also getting him from a hitter's park into a pitcher's park.

    I'm not opposed to Santana on a reasonable one year deal. I want no part of Delmon Young, though. Bad plate patience, terrible in the field and a bad attitude.

    As much as I would do that trade, the Yankees already have an all-glove, no-bat infielder in Brendan Ryan. I don't think they would take essentially the same player and a swingman for their second most valuable player last season. I saw some quote from a scout on MLBTR saying that he thought the best the Yankees could do was a BOR guy for Gardner. I like Gardner, but he's not the second coming of DiMaggio. He's a decent hitter, versatile, and cheap for the next year. As for "their second most valuable player last season", that's not saying a lot with the injuries, suspensions, etc. that happened to the Yankees. That's a fair point. I think they'd probably ask for Olt, and I wouldn't be opposed to Olt and Villanueva for Gardner and someone like Vidal Nuno or Chase Whitley or similarly intriguing pitcher who could be a part of the rotation this coming season. EDIT: Also the Yankees are reportedly shopping Ichiro. I don't want him but thought it should be mentioned. Seems like trading him and cutting Wells would be the obvious choices.

    Well they need a 3B assuming ARod isn't playing and they need pitching. A friend told me he saw someone floating a Gardner and prospects for Samardzija but I'm sure there's no truth to that and as much as I like Gardner, the Yankees' pitching prospects aren't interesting enough that I would do that trade.

    Reportedly turned down better offers to stay in Boston. I think I read that the Sox are now paying more for the three years they initially signed him for after his contract was re-worked last offseason.

    Yep. I'd actually lean Kemp if we're talking "moves that get GMs fired". David Price for Taijuan +? @DCameronFG1m As @JeffPassan and @RyanDivish note, rumors have been linking Ms to David Price today, and suggest Ms willing to pay crazy price to get him. Sign Cano to crazy contract and trade Walker and others for Price would be pretty insane. I kinda wanna see them pull it off.

    Not a bad deal for Wright, who has been quietly good the past couple years. That makes him, Russell and Rosscup lefties that could make the team next year. Does this mean a Russell trade could happen next week?

    Cano would sign for Seattle because they would pay him a ton of money, which is the type of "splash" agents like most. Seattle is also not a small market team. Mark Trumbo is likely unavailable, since they no longer have a logjam in the OF with Bourjos gone. Trading Shark and Jackson for Trumbo would probably set the Cubs back multiple years. Set us back? Not hardly. Shark and Jackson are not long term answers. Seattle is small market-bottom third in MLB. Ask Griffey, Jr. or Randy Johnson. JayZ is trying to outdo Scott Boras with no leverage or cred amongst the teams. Shark has shown flashes of being an ace and is still harnessing his potential. Trumbo doesn't walk and doesn't have a position where he is a passable fielder. I wouldn't be happy with getting Trumbo back and they don't really have any good pitching prospects they would part with.

    Yankees set to sign Kelly Johnson. Doesn't mean they're out on Cano, but with this and Ellsbury, it sure looks like a "you're move" type of deal. They're clearly not waiting around on a decision. They also have an offer out to Infante.

    I've long been a Gardner fan. Tremendous defense (won back to back Fielding Bible awards) and has good patience at the plate. The Yankees still value him as their leadoff hitter, though, and I imagine he won't come cheaply, especially since he isn't owed all that much. They said they don't intend to trade him. They do have plenty of holes (3B, pitching) that we could probably find a match, but I don't see it.

    Yeah, that's a bad deal for the DBacks. They're getting a PTBNL from the Rays, too, but I'm sure they could've found a salary dump deal instead of trading an intriguing young arm. I liked Holmberg as a second piece in a Shark trade, too.

    I'd take a shot on Kalish. Bailey will miss the first few months of the season, right? Won't we be getting Fujikawa back at the same time? Would seem like a redundant signing.

    Isn't he the teenager wannabe reporter? I know he's called some stuff before but I'll wait til someone else gets it. Still, that would be an interesting trade that makes sense for both, depending on the return. Yankees say they won't budge on their offer to Cano. I wonder if the Tigers would try to swoop in with the savings. How much was Fister due next year?

    I like it. Pretty decent backup catcher. I don't know that they outright give him the job but I'd have to think this rules out signing a free agent catcher to a major league deal?

    I've liked him for a bit as a 4th outfielder. Great defense. Good patience at the plate. Steals bases at a good rate. Was worth a 3.6 WAR in fewer than 250 at bats this year. I'll take it if the cost isn't much, but I'd imagine the Rangers value him, especially after losing Cruz and Murphy.

    We do have a lot of depth there, so I wouldn't target Lawrie as the centerpiece, but he still put up nearly a 3 WAR last season and about a 5 WAR the year before and is still 23. Didn't he come up as a 2B, though? He could be an option there.

    Wow that was fast. I wonder if it's a one-for-one deal. Tigers have to be sending some money, too, right?
