  1. Stewart also followed that up with this: So they plan to go with a mediocre pairing at catcher in order to not block an all-hit, no-field catcher.
  2. I still keep thinking that Edwin Jackson for Cameron Maybin (and some cash or prospects on either side to offset the difference) makes too much sense. Especially given some reports today the Padres are looking for an innings eater in the rotation. If not that, maybe some kind of Wood for Venable trade. A bunch of those NL West teams match up with us.
  3. Do they not still do that? I know it's not in the free story but I thought it was included in the book and the subscription.
  4. Phillies sign claymation and mediocre pitcher Aaron Harang, one year and $5 mil.
  5. Can't believe the Yankees gave up on Banuelos for two middle relievers. Carpenter and Shreve have decent numbers but Banuelos still has a legitimate shot to be a solid starter, no?
  6. Turned off the MSU game for the Winter Classic. Switched back over once it was over and glad I did. What a great day in sports watching. And I can't stop watching that Vine of the Baylor kicker.
  7. I've long liked Denorfia and it's a cheap deal, but how is he different from Sweeney and Coghlan? Surely one of those two is getting dealt or cut, right?
  8. Rays sign Asdrubal Cabrera. Precursor to a Zobrist trade? I'd love to have Zobrist but I'm worried about the cost considering he's gonna start to show his age and, IIRC, he's a FA after the season.
  9. Peterson pickup is interesting. Not an exciting player but a good depth outfielder who can play all three positions and has good on base skills. Also, apparently everyone decided to make moves today. Really like that trade for the Yankees.
  10. A's trade Derek Norris to the Padres. Padres are really going for it and Billy Beane is blowing it all up.
  11. Chicago Cubs ‏@Cubs 3s3 seconds ago #Cubs acquired RHP prospect Matt Brazis from @Mariners for OF Justin Ruggiano. Brazis is 8-6 w/ 14 SV, 2.89 ERA in 100 games over 3 seasons. I know we have a glut of 4th-5th OF types but I figured Coghlan would be the one to go.
  12. Yeah isn't the deadline tonight?
  13. No, but he's definitelt on the sauce. Well duh he was a Cardinal How do you like them apples?
  14. I keep thinking an EJax for Maybin trade makes too much sense. Both need a change of scenery. Both have similar money left on their contract. Jackson gives the Padres an innings eater who could benefit from playing in a pitchers' park and Maybin plays good defense in CF and is a nice rebound candidate. Thoughts?
  15. Strikes me as an odd signing. Not a bad gamble on a one year deal. But I still can't get over the Wright non tender. Is the plan then Doubront or Wada and Rosscup or Jokisch as the lefties in the pen?
  16. Well they're going for it. Mariners and Royals wanted him but weren't willing to go three years.
  17. I just re-read this for the third time and it's still hilarious. I had been waiting for this since the moment Lester signed, haha.
  18. Give him to us. And i'm not talking about Zimmerman. Yeah Danny Espinosa would be a solid addition for us.
  19. Why do the Marlins make this trade? What a great deal for the Dodgers.
  20. I got this. Seriously pumped about this move though. I woke up to the news this morning and it's easily the most excited I've been at 6 am.
  21. I like the deal. Losing Mejia is a bummer but he's a long ways away and we have a lot of interesting arms in the lower minors.
