  1. I'm not sure what I misunderstood but I think I made it clear I'd rather stick with Fukudome this year than pay him to play elsewhere and/or take back somebody else's contract and playing an out machine in Colvin. The decision on another contract can wait until next year depending on how the team looks.
  2. It could be, and if he traded him this offseason I would be very impressed with his newfound ability to play chess. But the Cubs are the quintessential telegraph what you are going to do organization and they have made it abundantly clear that Fukudome is gone. True, but since this is Fukudome's last year, would you rather they hold on to him and try to resign him or stick with a cheaper version in Colvin, despite Fukudome being the better player? Colvin is not a cheaper version of Fukudome. He's the complete opposite. I would much rather just hold onto Fukudome than pay him to play elsewhere or take on somebody else's contract. If/when Fukudome is traded, this team's only real patient hitter is gone. Soto will be the only one who is actually patient, and he'll only play 125 games. This organizatio's offense has sucked for almost the entire decade. The only time it didn't suck is when it was briefly among the most patient in baseball. The outfield is going to make a lot of outs, and so will most of the infield.
  3. It seems all the new guys are on the ice all the time. Every line but the top one has imports now, their 2nd best center is out as well as their best forward. And Toews and Kane have been no shows so far. Keith has showed up but all that time on the ice is taking it's toll.
  4. Seriously, that's not 8-10 stitches in the chin blood. That's a scratch.
  5. Because I think he is a liability to the organization serving as a coach.

  7. BS excuse. They've traded for guys midseason before. This team has no good receivers. They've got a handful of okay ones, but all this BS about being happy where your receivers are is absurd. The better ones are midgets that can't make a play on the ball and the bigger ones never play.
  8. Hendry said today that Colvin is an everyday player. I assume that means with the Cubs.
  9. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=639&position=3B Beltre turned down his option to return to Boston. Would you sign him to play third and move Aramis to 1st?
  10. or a stripper who takes her work home with her, or just a regular gold digger
  11. Money and a morally casual attitude.
  12. I was on that bandwagon, but then I heard on Comcast last night that the Hawks are only 1 GB last years pace at this point. Not saying we're as good as last years team, but it tells me that 14 games isnt a definite look at how good you'll be through 50 games or 80 games. It will be incredibly disappointing to lose back to back games to teams my friends are fans of, but not tragic. I'm really annoyed at how many more games they have played in comparison to everybody else this early in the season when all teams are struggling to click. Nobody else has 14 (15th tonight), several have only played 8 or 9 and most are at 10-11. The combination of early injuries and a whole bunch of new guys makes that tough.
  13. Sure seems like he's done that in every big game he's had over the last 12 years or so. I guess eventually that's how it turns out, but it's more like he limps away after the lights have been on for a few hours.
  14. she probably doesn't have a daddy
  15. http://deadspin.com/5680796/front-row-lap-dance-at-the-cowboys-game Vance brought his Hooters girls to the game! nsfw
  16. Favre would never run away and hide when the lights came on. Until he figures out how to fake another injury at least.
  17. Don't watch SatC, so sorry...don't get the reference. But when Kerry first came up I realized we were close in age and it's just something that's stuck with me. Anyhow, didn't mean to make into a thing...just was a throwaway comment... Oh, a thing you have made my friend. He's like a year and a half younger than me and I've always thought of him as a kid until this summer. I'm freaking old. And the reference is that you are trying to pretending you aren't old, which you are.
  18. True or not, can we not use this term when describing Kerry? He turns 34 years old this upcoming season and has no chance of starting again, so yeah, he's an aging reliever. I'm not denying that. I'm just asking that we not use the term...I'm only a few months off from his birthday. He's my "sports age" reference. Or something. Also I wasn't serious. What are you a Sex and the City character? I've been calling guys younger than me old in sports for a few years now.
  19. That like many of his other injuries he decided to draw maximum attention to himself and overexaggerated everything. If a chin is busted open to the point that you need 8 or 10 stitches, there will be blood. He's been lauding his toughness and willingness to play through pain and come back from injury non stop this season.
  20. I'm pretty sure you could see it in his chin strap. Other than that he had his hand covering it most of the time and the trainers immediately had it covered with gauze. When you bust open a chin, blood gets everywhere in a hurry. I've done it a few times and never did it require 8 or 10 stitches (I've seen reports of both), just 2 or 3. A hand isn't going to stop it, a detached chin strap isn't going to contain it, and the gauze would be bright red in a hurry.
  21. Well I mean it is one of our own players that's heaping the praise. In fact I haven't really seen anyone outside of the Bears organization that's said that we have great receivers. I don't care about Pisa saying it, or anybody on the team. The players can say what they want and being supportive is probably good. I would be annoyed at Lovie and Jerry saying it. I think the WR corps is one stud away from being great though. Knox and Hester are both nice options but cannot be your featured receiver.
  22. I was watching it because I had Chiefs in Survivor and kept turning it off since it was so crappy.
  23. Okay, I'm feeling a little better about the Bears now. Simmons is back to saying they are the one of the 4 worst teams in the league after completely moving away from his original 3 worst teams earlier in the season. He guessed Buffalo by 3 in this game.
  24. Oh yeah, and has anybody actually spotted any blood from that Favre hit? You don't take 12 stitches to the chin without a ton of blood spewing, and I didn't see any. Neither has anybody else I asked.
