  1. Odd, I found that the only appealing thing about being stuck watching KC/BUF. I also don't think his enthusiasm is forced; I think he's just always got a chubby when watching sports. He was screaming at random nothing plays, and he would just go from normal voice to scream to normal voice. It seemed really forced at times. It's jarring when it runs counter to what is actually happening. I know I'm in the minority but I just don't get the over the top love for his over the top emotion. He's better than most announcers out there, but he's still making the same stupid mistakes and missing obvious stuff, just not as bad as some of the hacks. I don't have a problem with him overall, I just don't get the love.
  2. I forgot about this earlier but watching the KC/BUF game, aside from being ugly, reinforced the notion that Gus Johnson's forced enthusiasm is not nearly as endearing as most people insist it is. Randomly screaming at non-exciting plays gets old, and takes away from when his genuine enthusiasm.
  3. They didn't even offer arbitration to the guy when he was younger and looking more stable. I really doubt they go three years on Wood, unless they are team options with incentives or something.
  4. And at that point you don't hesitate to walk away. Also, yes nuts, you can and should dream.
  5. True or not, can we not use this term when describing Kerry? He turns 34 years old this upcoming season and has no chance of starting again, so yeah, he's an aging reliever.
  6. He had a 1.2 WHIP. Eh, I hadn't checked his numbers since the trade so all I remembered was his Cleveland WHIP this year. Still not worth it unless he's very cheap. I think he's worth it if it prevents them from signing somebody else to a 3 year deal, not to mention if it sends Cashner back to the rotation. They are going to sign somebody for the bullpen. Why not a guy who can conceivably pay for himself with the nostalgia sales?
  7. He was cut by the team in August. I doubt he gets a ring... unless Brian Wilson punches him in the face with his. If Bengie Molina gets a ring (which it was reported earlier that he does) then so does Wellemeyer. I think anybody that was on the team at any time during the season gets a ring. A share of the prize money, that could be another story. My guess is they both get a partial share. I'm not sure if it's anybody who spent any time, but anybody who made 11 starts is getting his.
  8. But didn't the whole thing start because New England wouldn't sign him to an extension?
  9. The thing I noticed about the lazy could have been TD replays is that one angle make it look absolutely horrible, and blatantly didn't try to catch an easy TD, but then the other angle makes it look like he was stumbling and lost track of the ball until he realized too late he was past it.
  10. I was there last night. Am I going to die?
  11. Read Drew Magery on kissingsuzykolber or deadspin
  12. Not sure what you wrote makes what I wrote false. Favre didn't do anything to GB that he hasn't done to every other fan base. He kind of screwed over the Jets in that he retired to get out from under their control then came back to Minnesota. But they were happy to see him go much the way GB fans should be happy that he hasn't been their QB for 3 years.
  13. Being able to go back to New England is going to be difficult. If I was Minnesota I'd file tampering charges if that occurred.
  14. It's understandable. But in the way that everybody hates Favre. He really didn't do anything to GB. To compare it to other people that we would all turn on if it happened is odd. They wanted him to retire so they could start on the Rodgers era before his rookie contract ended without knowing if they should reinvest in him. It's a specific situation because QB is a position that only one guy can play and the QB can't play another position. It's not like a starting pitcher being pushed aside for another starting pitcher, or a corner outfielder making room for another bat out there. Even a position like catcher allows for two different people to play with regularity. You can conceivably keep your old guys while you introduce your new guys. Favre was their starting QB and they didn't want to lose Rodgers. The did what they could to move past Favre and start anew. Favre wanted to keep playing. So he did. He's annoying as hell but he didn't really do anything to GB.
  15. 100% out of spite and nothing else or a fame whore who wanted attention? Can't be both.
  16. Yeah, I'm not sure how that would work. I still think they should chop off the upper deck and start over with that somehow.
  17. It happens. If it would have been Sandberg or Sosa or someone who did the same thing that Favre did only to end up in St. Louis just to stick it to us, Cubs fans would have felt the same way. What did Favre do? GB wanted him to retire, right?
  18. the link provides an explanation. You get 3 points for FG and 1 point for kicking it out of end zone Since the end zone is 15 yards deep a moderate range FG actually requires a hefty kick to get it out. If you catch it in end zone you can run it out, or kick it out, they couldn't run so they kicked but the kicker caught it and had a chance to kick it back out. He kicked but didn't make it through end zone, defensive team muffed their last chance and kicking team fell on ball for TD.
  19. But there are two different versions of that person. The real money is in exploiting those people who really enjoy being in a place nobody else can get in.
  20. Watch this crazy end to an CFL game
  21. What I gather is they are looking at keeping most current wrigley field seating the same but adding the types of clubs where the bigwigs spend money. I'm fine with that if they keep the general seating areas from bullpen to bullpen as is and don't create the moat effect you get in Yankee Stadium.
