  1. Except he has the hair that every douchey lacrosse player that went to college in the early 2000's had. It's douche by association. Have you visited a Southern college town recently? 93% of males under 30 living south of the Mason-Dixon line have that hairstyle. Yes, the south tends to catch on to trends slowly, like Canada.
  2. The decision to not bring Vitters up has nothing at all to do with coddling him.
  3. I absolutely would not call up Vitters. I don't think he's a great enough prospect to worry about ruining him, but they could still try to maximize his value to the organization by matching up his prime years with his cheap years.

  5. Why is Paul Sullivan obsessed with this sort of thing? He's got this hangup about non-baseball personnel ever stepping foot on the grass of Wrigley Field. What is embarrassing about an employee of a baseball team holding a bat on a baseball field?

  7. Yes, but it's June now. Did you read any of TT's post or just stop there. I read the whole thing. It was written after I wrote that Stewart's bad luck is a bit overblown. I wrote that today, in mid-June, in response to somebody else claiming he's been ridiculously unlucky this season.
  8. I think you're way underrating Romo. At most, it's slightly underrating him.

  10. was that sloth in attendance?
  11. blitzkrieg
  12. I'll admit up front that I'm bordering on being a Vitters apologist. I also understand that Stewart is so unlucky that he is more likely to get hit by a meteor with a winning powerball ticket stuck to the front of it than get a line drive to not be hit right to a fielder. That being said, it's not such a bad idea to bring Vitters up before then (like if he got his AAA ops north of .800) since a sept. call up is a fairly small sample size that's watered down by the presence of other sept. call ups pitching for non contending teams. I want Vitters to spend all of 2012 in Iowa. I don't believe he's ever had a single complete, healthy year at a single level before. I want him to do that in Iowa this year and make some adjustments before being rewarded with a promotion. Yeah, there's no reason to call him up this year. He's probably the guy most capable of benefiting from more time within this system. And Ian Stewart's unluckiness is a bit overblown.
  13. There's a bomb on a bus? I actually just looked at a couple of these earlier, knew some others, and made some guesses so all I missed was #8.
  14. I wouldn't call a year of plateau meaningless even at Castro's age and I certainly wouldn't call Garza regressing to career norms (which aren't terribly impressive for a TOR pitcher) meaningless. I'm not all that concerned with Castro's plateau offensively, but it is disappointing. Garza and Soto are the biggest concerns for me, though. Had Garza continued the progress he made last year and Soto had managed a bounceback year, we'd have a much better chance at putting together a competitive team next year. However, Garza took a considerable step back and Soto has been awful, and the team is on pace to lose 110 games (which we won't lose that many, but still). Had the two of them developed like we all had hoped, then the team wouldn't be as bad as it is. So the comments that we've been horrid and everybody who matters has developed fine are untrue. Dew, you're talking about a completely different thing that what was being discussed in here.
  15. the thing is, he's usually friendly in PCs. it's that meathead urlacher that gets surly and goes after reporters with his answers, the so-called face of the franchise. jay is usually boring, though he's been more insightful lately. Actually, that brings up an overall inconsistency. It isn't just PCs. Urlacher is easily as surly and stand-off-ish in general as Cutler is. Yet Brian is treated much better than Jay. Jay's persona is interpreted as, "pfff, whatever, I don't even care." Whereas Urlacher's surliness is interpreted as a guy who really cares about the game. It's no surprise which version of not friendly with the media would be treated better.
  16. How so? He looks like he's doing just fine to me, if not a little better in some aspects of his game What aspects of Garza's game have been better this year? He's taken a step back from last year, but 2011 was a pretty glaring outlier. He's still performing very well though.
  17. Nobody said everything went right. Somebody did say they all had to do play poorly. The fact that Castro hasn't taken another step forward hardly means he's playing poorly. And a year of plateau at this age is meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
  18. only slightly harder than looking them up yourself
  19. How the hell does LaHair get coupled with Garza in that discussion? "Even LaHair?" If you can get anything for LaHair, take it. They got a ridiculous start from him and have done a tremendous job of doling out the playing time to maintain those overall numbers in impressive territory.
  20. They've been quoted on multiple occasions recently that transactions will start to take place after the draft was completed.
  21. I will never forgive him for losing a #1 pick for Latroy Hawkins, a GD reliever.
