  1. Chris Kuc retweeted a Luongo/Blackhawks rumor that came from a Columbus writer. Although he spent the next 20 minutes talking about how meaningless rumors can be.
  2. Really? If he's average offensively and below average offensively you think that would make up for it?
  3. cable feed going batty
  4. Seems to me that if you are the famous person in the business venture you get the partners to put up most of the cash while you keep yours and use your fame as your equity.
  5. Oh my god you weirdo. Why is trampled grass disturbing? You have mental issues.
  6. germany looking overwhelming early
  7. All joking aside, I really don't understand how being a drunk 22 year old is "really bad". Millions of people act that way every day. Where are these stories about other 22 year olds that are so public and visible? So the fact that he's a public figure makes it "really bad" when millions of non-public figures do the same stuff and never get called out on it? It's a PR problem, not a real life issue.

  9. So you admit he's beating up on those pitchers, therefore, he's making strides and thus should be considered an up and comer. Case closed.
  10. I still go back to how Andy MacPhail referred to him specifically as not a leadoff man, but a middle of the order hitter (I think it was Andy who spoke to the media about him) and then a couple years later Don Baylor (not Dusty) demanding he be more slap happy. Baylor and Dusty both treated him like Willie Mays Hayes. I forget which of them popped off the Oddibe McDowell line, though. That was Don Baylor. Dusty brushed off Baylor's comments with an "I wasn't there" instead of actually standing up for his player. But the development train was well of the tracks by then.

Dusty did it, too, in 04 or 05, IIRC. Right, but Donny Buntball was the one who instigated the whole thing just a couple years after the team drafted and started to develop him as what he was capable of being. Baylor was criticizing him as a 20/21 year old for not being a table setter. Corey never should have been exposed to such idiotic major league managing at that time. He should have spent that entire year in high A instead of AA then the majors and should not have been pushed so aggressively, when management's plan and the manager's plan were so diametrically opposed. That's exactly the type of thing that Theo probably will never let happen and why the celebrity manager nonsense was another in a long line of mistakes by the previous regime.

  13. This guy was damned exciting at Lansing. Man, those were exciting times. WHY DID HE SKIP HIGH A, WHY? WHY? In a perfect world he would have been a highly sought after prospect the Cubs traded for something significantly better.
  14. I think everybody knows who Josh Vitters is.
  15. Jordan Staal reportedly turned down a 10-year extension, I have to wonder if the Blackhawks are considering him at all for be their 2nd line center. NYR and CAR are the teams I've seen mentioned most.
  16. Fuzzy math? I get .282 when I calculate 11 for 39. Koyie Hill went 7/39 in 11 games.
  17. I guess, but I'm kinda ok with the disagreement being with the 4th or 5th best team being pissed than the 2nd best team. At least we've moved the discussion further down the "ladder". What if a 12-0 Boise State left out after winning @ MSU, @ TCU and vs. Utah. Of course you could make the argument that they should have played a tougher schedule, then BSU fans say they tried, and we're left with the exact same argument as before. What is Boise State really is the best team that year and don't get selected? What if there are 5 teams with 1 loss and relatively similar resumes, to the point where the number 1 team could just as easily been 5. I know these are a bit of extreme scenarios and many years there will be a clear gap between 1 and 4, but as soon as something like the above happens, there will be controversey. And the first time a 4 seed wins the title, there will be more scrutiny towards the selection process. Now that BSU has been "on the scene" for quite a while I think it will be much easier for them to actually qualify if they do go undefeated, to get a spot. A big part of their problem before was nobody believed they were really any good and just a flash in the pan type team (which many teams have done in the past). I think that sentiment has changed.
  18. Yeah there were actually 2 concerts in 2 days, Roger Waters on Friday, Brad Paisley on Saturday, and then the Cubs played at Wrigley on Tuesday. It was bound to be terrible but I was still surprised at how bad it was. Yes, I was @ Wrigley June 14th. I can't remember who, but somehow it was reported there were two concerts, not just Roger Waters. WSR?

  20. Isn't it more like the 49th best team that gets screwed? I thought that was the argument, since there are all the automatic selections. Anyway, your point remains. But that outlandish whining is going to exist no matter where the cutoff point is. I think 4 should be enough to get the teams that belong there in the hunt. But I don't like the committee.
  21. People love to hate the ginger hammer but despite the negative headlines he's easily the leader in the clubhouse. And in fact, he's playing at a more elite country club while everybody else is hacking away at munis.
  22. His OPS has been below average for a RF. So, you could say he's been decent but that's about it.
  23. The most obvious way is the BCS top 4
  24. Something is getting laid in Wrigleyville http://twitpic.com/9z0auj just to clarify, they are laying new sod, sullivan says its for Rizzo
