  1. You never heard of Chuck Garfien? He was probably the most well known "talent" to originally join CSN Chicago, as he was an ESPN and ESPNews anchor for a few years before going to CSN. He's all over the White Sox beat now.
  2. Although everybody has been describing him as undersized, thin and basically a tiny kid, he wasn't nearly as small as I assumed when I saw him.
  3. You can let Rizzo, Vitters and Jackson come up and struggle while still at least trying to put decent players at other positions. Why the hell is Bryan Lahair your starting LF? He's been awful for quite some time now. Maybe it's time to stop pretending he has a chance of being something.
  4. I called him out on twitter last night for this crap. Chuck Garfien is quietly one of the worst baseball media members in Chicago. I say quietly because he's stuck to the Sox so I usually ignore him, but he was hosting CTL recently and said some really dumb stuff. The dumbest was, "The most important thing is that Rizzo hits .382 in day games. That is what the Cubs need to do, bring in more guys who hit better in day games."
  5. Really? I see it coming. Hoyer and Theo have both said the youngsters are going to have to experience growing pains and they need to be given a longer leash, to see if they can overcome the obstacles. They've hinted at watching the them struggle and it'll be that much better once things start to click. Personally, I could see that team winning more games than this current one, but admittedly, it's out there to get a top 3 pick and huge IFA money for 2014. That team will lose 115 games and the fanbase will turn on the ownership, front office, Roast, en masse. It'd be a [expletive] disaster. although i'd love to see roast overwhelmed in a wrigley riot, there's no way that that team loses 100 games. 90, yes, 100, no. You can't say they will lose 90 but there's no way they'd lose 100. "They've hinted at watching the team struggle." What the hell are they doing right now? That's an absolutely abysmal joke of a roster.
  6. Thanks for linking. He has such a quick, easy swing. Still holding out hope that he can be a league-average offensive player at 3B in a year or two. That's a pretty low threshold these days. With his defense, he better be more than average offensively. At his peak, yes. But in a year or two he will still be quite young and pre-prime.
  7. While the comments on Almora are positive it is a little confusing about how they view the guy. The last part indicates they didn't think he was a top 10 candidate this year, despite indications that he was the best high school player (which would always be a top 10, no?).
  8. I enjoyed watching the ump try to run all over the place.
  9. Thanks for linking. He has such a quick, easy swing. Still holding out hope that he can be a league-average offensive player at 3B in a year or two. Thanks for linking, that "consolidate your bills" ad in the middle of that video was amazing.
  10. did the Cubs announcers have as much fun with Wood's helmet decal as the Mets announcers?
  11. I made it through about 5 words
  12. I've been open to the idea of trading the guy but how anybody could ever even consider trading him just to get rid of him is way beyond me. Makes no sense at all.
  13. Wow, Rizzo in the 3 spot. Hmm. Or does it mean 3 as in scoring position 3 (1st base)? I mentioned this earlier, but Len was on the Score today and said that that's where he expects Rizzo to hit. That said, in the Tweet he easily could've just been referencing the position. Considering he included the numbers for the positions it seems clearly a reference to the field position.
  14. It's entirely possible that he was clean and has tried something else in a more desperate attempt to get back to form.
  15. Pre-twitter. Pre-NSBB (I believe). Different atmosphere.
  16. He's trending all over twitter. Imagine the excitement here when the Cubs callup somebody who is a legit blue chip top 5 prospect type. Seems anti-climactic to me. He's already Cubs property, so the call-up itself doesn't really matter.
  17. you're going to need a ghost runner
  18. He's a free agent right now.
  19. Enough with the Sandusky jokes people. It's disgusting.
  20. http://deadspin.com/5921077/the-blue-jackets-turned-down-the-islanders-entire-draft-for-their-no-2-pick?comment=50380922 the islanders offered their entire draft to columbus for the #2 pick (Murray) and CBJ turned it down. They did fire four scouts right after the draft and couldn't pull the trigger on any Nash deal, so maybe they just don't have any faith in their ability to make use of all those picks. But I'd guess that could have been a nice haul.
  21. obviously that point for you was years ago
  22. Have you not heard about what is going to happen with IL next year?
  23. Yeah that was ridiculous. Are NHL teams allowed to pay salaries of guys they trade? And would the union allow a renegotiation of Luongo's deal? And would Luongo even consider that? Three yeses, and I might start to consider it. He's at 10/47 right now, right? The cap hit on the deal is 5.3m (I assume that carries over regardless of what remains on contract). The last 4 years of his deal are considerably cheaper, and one would have to assume that is when he will be ready to retire. If they managed to deal away Crawford and Montador or maybe Hjalmersson then from a cap perspective there's already a wash in the next few years. The contract is expensive, but it really only matters from a cap perspective. I think it would be crazy if such a move occurred, given their history. But I don't think I'd be upset if they managed to make the deal without giving up top prospects.
