  1. Vitters should not be called up. They'll just play Valbuena and Baker. Yeah, it's not like Stewart being unavailable is something new. And they haven't missed any production by him being gone. His replacements have probably been a bit better. The last thing you do now is call up Vitters. There's no need. Nothing to be gained. And it will only cost you in the end.
  2. He doesn't seem to me to be the type of guy I'd like my team to trade anything of value for. Maybe if you were a small market team that was a surprising contender and you were trying to throw your fans a bone with an acquisition. But you'd have to have a pretty weak OF situation for him to be much of a step up. The Cubs aren't exactly bursting with bodies that need to play in the OF ASAP. I think I'd rather they keep him around and hope he has a better start to next season.
  3. I doubt that very much. Why would they be impressed by fans who pay attention to the organization? It's not like they haven't seen it before.
  4. everybody else is reporting it as well. 2/9
  5. I have no idea what any of that means.
  6. For a team that has been so worried about cap space the past couple years, spending over a million for such a non-essential player in any given year seems to be a waste. If all you are going to do is deal away your costly vets and stockpile prospects it doesn't make much sense to turn around and keep wasting millions on back-end guys.
  7. Seens like a big overpay for a 6th d-man.
  8. Oh Sori that felt good, you went real deep that time
  9. yeah, that would have been horrible It certainly wouldn't have helped sell the product. Zambrano's a marginal player at this point, just like Reed Johnson. No sense in putting up with distractions if you don't have to. So you're saying they might struggle to sell tickets in a down year if Zambrano was on the team? That makes a lot of sense. Since when has Zambrano been a gate attraction? The fanbase turned on him years ago. As evidenced by the decrease in tickets sold while he was still here and the increase in tickets sold since he's been gone.

  11. I have no ability to scout somebody's swing, but man did LaHair's bat look slow in that AB. First pitch FB right down the middle that he was late on and fouled off. Then he hits a weak grounder to SS.
  12. Wow, Rizzo struck out looking but go lucky and now walks.
  13. Based on anything more than the fact they once took him in Rule 5? Bruce Miles ‏@BruceMiles2112 #Cubs assign RHP Randy Wells outright to Class AAA Iowa.
  14. No, but 2 years ago Crawford had a better year than Brodeur. Marty just isn't the type of guy you back up the truck for.
  15. Bruce Miles ‏@BruceMiles2112 Looks like a 2:15 start for #Cubs
  16. yeah, that would have been horrible
  17. He's right though. Really? Was Marty anything more than a solid goalie this year? Bowman doesn't seem to me to be a guy interested in paying a truckload for solid goaltending.
