  1. Pre-twitter. Pre-NSBB (I believe). Different atmosphere.
  2. He's trending all over twitter. Imagine the excitement here when the Cubs callup somebody who is a legit blue chip top 5 prospect type. Seems anti-climactic to me. He's already Cubs property, so the call-up itself doesn't really matter.
  3. you're going to need a ghost runner
  4. He's a free agent right now.
  5. Enough with the Sandusky jokes people. It's disgusting.
  6. http://deadspin.com/5921077/the-blue-jackets-turned-down-the-islanders-entire-draft-for-their-no-2-pick?comment=50380922 the islanders offered their entire draft to columbus for the #2 pick (Murray) and CBJ turned it down. They did fire four scouts right after the draft and couldn't pull the trigger on any Nash deal, so maybe they just don't have any faith in their ability to make use of all those picks. But I'd guess that could have been a nice haul.
  7. obviously that point for you was years ago
  8. Have you not heard about what is going to happen with IL next year?
  9. Yeah that was ridiculous. Are NHL teams allowed to pay salaries of guys they trade? And would the union allow a renegotiation of Luongo's deal? And would Luongo even consider that? Three yeses, and I might start to consider it. He's at 10/47 right now, right? The cap hit on the deal is 5.3m (I assume that carries over regardless of what remains on contract). The last 4 years of his deal are considerably cheaper, and one would have to assume that is when he will be ready to retire. If they managed to deal away Crawford and Montador or maybe Hjalmersson then from a cap perspective there's already a wash in the next few years. The contract is expensive, but it really only matters from a cap perspective. I think it would be crazy if such a move occurred, given their history. But I don't think I'd be upset if they managed to make the deal without giving up top prospects.
  10. Chris Kuc retweeted a Luongo/Blackhawks rumor that came from a Columbus writer. Although he spent the next 20 minutes talking about how meaningless rumors can be.
  11. Really? If he's average offensively and below average offensively you think that would make up for it?
  12. cable feed going batty
  13. Seems to me that if you are the famous person in the business venture you get the partners to put up most of the cash while you keep yours and use your fame as your equity.
  14. Oh my god you weirdo. Why is trampled grass disturbing? You have mental issues.
  15. germany looking overwhelming early
  16. All joking aside, I really don't understand how being a drunk 22 year old is "really bad". Millions of people act that way every day. Where are these stories about other 22 year olds that are so public and visible? So the fact that he's a public figure makes it "really bad" when millions of non-public figures do the same stuff and never get called out on it? It's a PR problem, not a real life issue.

  18. So you admit he's beating up on those pitchers, therefore, he's making strides and thus should be considered an up and comer. Case closed.
  19. I still go back to how Andy MacPhail referred to him specifically as not a leadoff man, but a middle of the order hitter (I think it was Andy who spoke to the media about him) and then a couple years later Don Baylor (not Dusty) demanding he be more slap happy. Baylor and Dusty both treated him like Willie Mays Hayes. I forget which of them popped off the Oddibe McDowell line, though. That was Don Baylor. Dusty brushed off Baylor's comments with an "I wasn't there" instead of actually standing up for his player. But the development train was well of the tracks by then.
  20. I still go back to how Andy MacPhail referred to him specifically as not a leadoff man, but a middle of the order hitter (I think it was Andy who spoke to the media about him) and then a couple years later Don Baylor (not Dusty) demanding he be more slap happy. Dusty did it, too, in 04 or 05, IIRC. Right, but Donny Buntball was the one who instigated the whole thing just a couple years after the team drafted and started to develop him as what he was capable of being. Baylor was criticizing him as a 20/21 year old for not being a table setter. Corey never should have been exposed to such idiotic major league managing at that time. He should have spent that entire year in high A instead of AA then the majors and should not have been pushed so aggressively, when management's plan and the manager's plan were so diametrically opposed. That's exactly the type of thing that Theo probably will never let happen and why the celebrity manager nonsense was another in a long line of mistakes by the previous regime.

  22. This guy was damned exciting at Lansing. Man, those were exciting times. WHY DID HE SKIP HIGH A, WHY? WHY? In a perfect world he would have been a highly sought after prospect the Cubs traded for something significantly better.
  23. I think everybody knows who Josh Vitters is.
  24. Jordan Staal reportedly turned down a 10-year extension, I have to wonder if the Blackhawks are considering him at all for be their 2nd line center. NYR and CAR are the teams I've seen mentioned most.
  25. Fuzzy math? I get .282 when I calculate 11 for 39. Koyie Hill went 7/39 in 11 games.
