  1. 2012 - .115/.258/.231 career - .133/.278/.217 So? So there is nothing stupid about benching him when a lefty is pitching.

  3. It's not mine.
  4. the ellipsis sure are familiar
  5. Because a triple crown candidate just pulled out of the running you dolt. There are three times a year when people pay any attention at all, and that's right now. In a month nobody will remember who won any of these races. This is a Mike Francesa sport, revered by 65 year old Mickey Mantle fanatics who lament its decline, much like boxing.
  6. Yeah but he usually plays 1B so it's not an issue.
  7. I think Cardenas has looked completely overmatched in his limited duty. Not much interest in seeing more of it
  8. Seriously, you guys are insane. People talk about it for 15 minutes 2 or 3 times a year. It's not popular, and it's shrinking.
  9. A niche group of rich people betting on something doesn't make it popular. If you think it's mainly rich people betting on horse races you REALLY aren't in tune with the "sport". If you think it's popular you aren't in tune with the English language.
  10. A niche group of rich people betting on something doesn't make it popular. Horse racing attendance and ratings have been going down for decades, tracks are closing and the one thing they hung their hat on, dollars bet, hit a plateau ten years ago and has been going down.
  11. Okay. That's nice. It's on NBC though so it's still not really on the public consciousness.
  12. Right now, people only ever watch if there's the possibility of a Triple Crown. So, they'll watch the Belmont if one horse already won the other two big races. So, horse racing is so popular that people watch one race every five years. Reaching even that level of popularity still baffles me. Of course I have similar feelings about NASCAR, but at least the humans get named as the winners in that event. But it's not popular. It's very unpopular. It's a completely niche sport. Why are people baffled that an unpopular sport is unpopular?
  13. The better guys are still generally picked higher and everybody has a different interpretation of the best. NFL teams also have drastic differences in ratings with some teams taking QBs, for example, much sooner than anybody else would because they are desperate for a QB. And again, this system is brand new. They had plenty of years with no hard slotting at all.
  14. You mean, the fact that it is terribly unpopular?
  15. I'll have another pulled out of the Belmont.
  16. There are parameters within the contract that are negotiated, including total guarantees. If it was just so easily cut and dried you wouldn't still have half the guys drafted in the first round still unsigned.
  17. At this point it would be unacceptable. They spent no money in free agency, landed no big targets, can't spend big on the draft and pretty much put their eggs in this basket. Even when they do sign him, unless it's all signing bonus, I'm going to wonder where a lot of the baseball budget went. There's a lot missing. It all went into the hookers and blow fund set-up for the recruiting process. Sin to Win!!!
  18. You are overstating the cut and dry nature, at least as it pertains to how the NFL system is now set-up. (that's also a brand new system that was never in place before.
  19. I read that foul ball fact in the local paper the other day and found it very hard to believe. Yeah it repeats that claim in the SI article but I just can't imagine that's true. So I guess we're supposed to believe that in the entirety of his MLB career he's never gotten out in front of a breaking or offspeed pitch.... He could have hit a grounder or linedrive that way.
  20. Who won it last year, unless his AVG dropped a ton, he wins.
  21. At this point it would be unacceptable. They spent no money in free agency, landed no big targets, can't spend big on the draft and pretty much put their eggs in this basket.
  22. Isn't that just how free agency works in every sport. Theo wooed Schilling over Thanksgiving. NFL owners and coaches fly their jets to their targets home base at midnight. THE DECISION.
  23. I assume it's time to bring in a righty out of the pen for MIL.
