  1. Seeing Corey Liuget being possibly available is intriguing, but we need OL help... He could replace Harris possibly, but I'm also a U of I homer and could be overestimating how good he is.
  2. Shouldn't be THAT hard to get Asomugha. He had zero interceptions this year...
  3. Is it bad that I want the Bears to win not because I'm a fan but because I could rub it into my friend's face? He's the guy who only roots for the top of each sport (Duke BBall, UConn womens bball, Yankees, Lakers, etc). He said the Bears will never have a winning season with Cutler because he had such a horrible year last year and that Urlacher and Peppers are the top 2 most overrated defensive players in all of football. Pretty much anything short of the Bears going to the Super Bowl and he will say they choked. I think even if they DO make it to the Super Bowl and end up losing, he'll say they choked... so I kind of need them to win it all... haha. Oh, and he thinks he's the next Bill Simmons.
  4. They are almost like the Patriots in this regard. I don't know what I would ever do if the Cubs had this many picks in the 1st and supplemental rounds. They would probably draft 7 highly athletic kids who aren't very polished in baseball.
  5. I felt like I was watching Cloverfield again.
  6. I think he dabbled in both, but I'm calling BS until Aramis punches him in the face. Mike Quade really needs to grow a thick mustache. Then again, he would look more like Scruffy from Futurama than Lou Brown from Major League. Works for me. If only he could grow hair. He has a lot in common with good ole Stanley Sitwell...
  7. bbwaa.com Looks like they're getting it back though.
  8. ... and their website has been hacked.
  9. Mark Bellhorn better be waiting by his phone!
  10. It seems like lately, the Bulls have been watching the "How to take it to the hoop" videos produced by U of Illinois.
  11. But Rowand can play the much ballyhooed "leadoff" position
  12. I wonder how the clubhouse chemistry will be with DLee and Chris Young... :-k Nevermind, Young is a free agent.
  13. Not sure. I haven't heard much on him since Matt Santos was elected.
  14. I know nothing about him... got any insight? Is this good? Bad? Ugly?
  15. Saw this when I woke up this AM. I was sad when Harry died, but Ronny's passing has shaken me up a bit. The Veteran's Committee should be ashamed of themselves, as well as the original voters who failed to get him into the Hall.

  17. ESPN St. Louis was talking about this trade when it went down. Randy Karraker was excited because Theriot is one of those "Take Command" type of clubhouse guys. He can take a lot of weight off of Pujols' shoulders, etc. Made me laught quite a bit. They are also excited about his glove in the field since he is a top defensive IF at both SS and 2B and is a great hitter, 3rd behind only Jeter and Cano for most multi-hit games in the last 2 (or so) years.
  18. he got me a free taco, though...
  19. What about Mike Maddux? Or Hersheiser?
  20. Lou Gehrig and Eddie Cicotte. Also, Paula Abdul.
  21. I don't want Ryne anywhere near this team, even if it's only as bench coach. I have terrible visions of us bunting in the 1st inning with our #3 hitter. In 144 games last year with the Iowa Cubs, Sandberg had non-pitchers sac bunt 27 times. That's once every 5.33 games. The majority of those 27 bunts came from Chris Robinson, Matt Camp, James Adduci, and Bobby Scales. Darwin Barney had 2 all year. Ty Wright, Marquez Smith, Sam Fuld, and Welington Castillo each had 1. Aren't we blowing things out of proportion a little bit? I was talking about this with my boss (who is a HS coach) and he said that the minors is supposed to be used as training grounds for certain situations. You want to win, but you also want to get practice in live situations for certain scenarios. Just because he sac bunted players in the minors doesn't mean he intends to do that all the time in the majors. Also, in the minors, sometimes you have players hitting in positions they probably won't be hitting in the majors. Just because a guy is a 3-4 hitter in the minors doesn't mean he WILL be a 3-4 hitter in the majors. If they have zero experience or practice, and then are called to do so in the majors, they will look lost out there. I have to say that I agree with him (and he's a Cardinals fan!).
