  1. This is way off topic, but does anyone happen to remember the old draft simulator game that was used quite a bit here many years ago? Does it still exist?
  2. I'd still trade Heyward straight up right now. I’d even throw in some onion gravy.
  3. Watch. They're going to have Soto, Goldschmidt and Arenado, but still get a competitive balance pick, because the league is run by morons. Plus, they’ll be using previous competitive balance picks to get him. It’s so infuriating.
  4. Now the Cardinals are the front-runners to acquire Juan Soto. :banghead:
  5. Runner up. I’m kinda surprised, but I’ll take it.
  6. Cody Parkey’s inability to make FG’s is only the 2nd most annoying thing about him. 1st, obviously, is his voice.
  7. I remember reading something like this, but can’t seem to find it to remember who wrote it. Someone who isn’t on their phone might have better luck.
  8. Unlike at Wendy's, Chili did not give us runs.
  9. I kinda wish we still had Derek Johnson in the system...
  10. What would we be willing to part with to get Stanton?
  11. I listened to the 9th inning on the radio on my drive home. When Addison had the 2-0 count, Pat said something along the lines of "With a 2-0 count on Russell, and 1st base open, the almost have to walk him, right?" And not 2 seconds later, you hear the crack of the bat and Pat yelling his HR call.
  12. Word on the street is that personal trainers hate him.
  13. The Cornbelters of Normal, Il host a Legends game each year, with a few former MLB players. This year's roster includes: Bob Dernier, Rick Ankiel, Brian Jordan, Mike Fontenot, Jose Canseco, Mitch Williams, Carlos Zambrano, and Mark Prior. I can only assume Prior will be throwing a towel session on the side. (Has enough time passed to use that again?) http://www.normalbaseball.com/tickets/2017-mco-legends-game *edit* Prior isn't listed on the Cornbelter's page yet, but was mentioned here: http://www.pantagraph.com/sports/professional/baseball/minor/cornbelters/ex-cub-pitcher-prior-to-play-in-legends-game/article_afa8b9ad-5207-51db-9065-9b948905f4c6.html
  14. It comes as very little surprise that the Cards fan from Pekin, IL thinks this, considering he lives in a town that's high school nickname was the Pekin Chinks until the 1980s. My Soph. year of high school, we had a track meet in Pekin. Just outside the track was a sign that said "Coloreds must be in by dark." This was in 1996. It wasn't there the next time we went to Pekin, so we're not sure if it was just some idiot who posted the sign, but it looked legit. Either way, it was a good indicator of what kind of horsefeathers Towne Pekin is.
  15. Gotta love Pokey! When did your brother attend? 97-01 I think Ah, I just missed him. I was 01-05
  16. Smaller. SLIAC. Here's the box: http://athletics.greenville.edu/sports/mbkb/2016-17/boxscores/20170211_ek2z.xml Greenville? Nice! my brother went there and I went to Maryville in St. Louis. Many nights at the truck stop in pocahontas with him and his friends. Gotta love Pokey! When did your brother attend?
  17. CCIW? Smaller. SLIAC. Here's the box: http://athletics.greenville.edu/sports/mbkb/2016-17/boxscores/20170211_ek2z.xml
  18. In D3 news, I went and watched my alma mater play today. They're currently (at least as of Jan 31) the highest scoring team in the country. They won tonight 149-146. They were down 7 w/ just under 2:00 left, and finally hit some key 3s to close it out. Very intense. They sub the entire line, play full-court press, lots of traps, and then just set up for quick 3s. Using the Grinnell system, and it's working for them. Only the 1st full season in this scheme, so there's still some growing pains.
  19. Craig Sager died. horsefeathers cancer. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/18286723/long-turner-sports-broadcaster-craig-sager-dies-age-65
  20. Even ISIS wouldn't eat provel cheese. It can never be overstated how terrible provel is.
  21. K-Strass is a legend. He was also on the Office.
  22. The Tigers need to lower payroll, but most of their high paid players are necessary pieces. Trading Verlander's contract, saving 12 mil this year while getting a pitcher of similar caliber is a big win for them. It's less clear what the point would be for the Cubs, Verlander's age 35 and 36 seasons at 2/56 don't have much upside. Having a guy under contract past 2017 doesn't mean a ton when he'll be nearing the end of his career and he's super expensive on top of that. I mean, why not just pay Rich Hill his money at that point? Keep in mind, Verlander is a package deal with Upton.
  23. Good to know we weren't just being stood up!
  24. Ben Zobrist was supposed to be in Eureka today for a big parade, and then a Peoria Rivermen game tonight, but had to cancel due to illness. Ben Zobrist is set to appear at Soldier Field for the Bears game tomorrow. :-k
