  1. Are you saying you'd rather have "reasonable" contracts no no WS wins?
  2. Released last offseason. Plays in the UFL. He was the guy that was going to replace Kruetz though, right?
  3. Isn't Josh Beekman is the heir apparent to Kruetz? Wait. Whatever happened to Beekman?
  4. Yeah I would have liked to see the league call his bluff there. He wanted to retire because he would get big fines for his blatantly dirty hits. Good, then the league doesn't need him. How exactly would the league call his bluff? Keep going with the lockout?
  5. Saw a "rumor" talking about how the Bears should go after Steve Smith. They said that even though he's 32, he would fit well into Martz's offense and that he still has a lot left in the tank. He apparently wants traded to a contender. 2 years ago, I'd be all for this... the age scares me a little bit.
  6. Do you think signing Dave Bush is distracting him too much to make trades as the deadline approaches, or do you think he thinks signing Dave Bush plugs a hole, and now he doesn't have to worry about the rotation going forward? Personally, I just think it was a waste of time in general. I highly doubt that he thinks that Bush plugs any kind of hole any more than Davis, Ortiz, or Lopez did, but on the other hand, if they are looking for another starter, they should just call up Coleman, Jackson, or Cabrera, who have been bad, but theres a chance that they could have some kind of future. If your a team on the brink of contention, it would make sense to keep trying out every retread you can get your hands on in hopes of finding lightning in a bottle, but as is, 12.5 games out of 1st and 19 under .500, I just dont get it. I can understand looking at washups that were once good like Colon, Garcia, and Milwood, but we just keep picking up these guys who were decent at best when they were in their prime. I strongly doubt they'd want to destroy what has to be shaky confidence in Jackson and Cabrera right now. The way they have pitched this year, they would be destroyed in the majors. Is that what you want to see? Agreed, but isnt Casey Coleman a fingey enough prospect who seen enough big league action that they could just call him up and see what hes got? Am I the only one who thinks Coleman just sucks? Perhaps "sucks" is too harsh, but I don't feel like he's THAT good. Not much velocity, and from what he's shown, not too much command.
  7. Wow, did you see the douche fight to steal that HR ball from a little kid?
  8. This. Meh, being labeled an all star in 2011 might have gotten him a few extra $'s on his next contract. But he's already shown that money isn't a HUGE priority for him. Not saying it isn't one, but he did take less money to play in Chicago.
  9. This.
  10. It's not MLB, but the one where the guy kicks the catcher first before charging the mound ranks high in my book. Wasn't that spring training? Look up Izzy Alcantara. That's the one! I love the pitchers defense...
  11. I won't watch that, and the thought of it alone makes me depressed. I unfortunately watched it. I wish I hadn't Things like this tend to stick around for me longer than usual. I can't stop thinking about the kid (and Josh Hamilton).
  12. It's not MLB, but the one where the guy kicks the catcher first before charging the mound ranks high in my book.
  13. On a serious note though, the pitcher has every right to throw inside. I don't blame Gregg one bit for throwing inside... multiple times. People like Ortiz have so much armor on them anymore that they can just crowd the plate and try to take away the inside portion of the plate. I'm not saying pitchers should be hitting batters purposefully, but throwing inside? That's fair game and should be done more often. How do you think guys like Drysdale would do in today's offensive-friendly version of baseball?
  14. If they're afraid of getting hit, then don't stand in the batters box.
  15. I started a discussion about this in the "Other Games" thread, but wasn't sure where it should have gone... either way... bunch of haymakers thrown, none landed. I kind of applaud Gregg for saying what he did afterwards... and it made Beckett look like a douche.
  16. Just saw the "highlights" of the Red Sox/Orioles game... Kevin Gregg and David Ortiz got into a bit of a scuffle. Several haymakers thrown (none landed).
  17. Really feel for the family and Josh Hamilton. He said he could hear the boy yelling for his dad. My heart just breaks hearing that.
  18. I think the impliciation is that it's wrong that he isn't healthy enough to fly with the team, but is healthy enough to take a much longer international flight. But anybody with 1/8 a brain would realize he stayed in Chicago because his rehab assignment will be in Peoria...
  19. I wonder if Riggins' pitching advice is "Overthrow all your breaking stuff."
  20. Prince DOES realize this is a HR Derby, right?
  21. Do we really need multiple threads on the same topic?
