  1. Probably because his OBP would be 1.000 if they put him on all the time, which is 535 points higher than his current OBP. Walking him all the time would help the Cardinals more than it would hurt them. The same goes for Bonds and SF.
  2. Derrek Lee will be wearing a pink cast for the occasion. :(
  3. Maybe we have to insult mods to get it locked? You try it first. OK. DJAXX...your genorosity to these boards is unbearable. JonMDavis, I believe you broadcast copywritten material without the express written consent of MLB and WGN. YEAH!! That should ruffle some feathers around here!!
  4. Challenge them to a video game competition. Half the players on the Giants were adults already when Pong was introduced.
  5. None of these proposed moves happen until we get Willie Greene back.
  6. Disadvantage: We'd have to hear Dave Otto instead "You gotta be some kind of strong..." "I'll tell you what, if the Cubs load em up here and Augie Ojeda hits a grand slam, this is a whole new ball game"
  7. I'd go and just laugh along and agree with any Sox fan that tells us how much we suck. Maybe if I felt like arguing I'd sarcastically ask when the last time one of their best players suffered a serious injury was.
  8. You're thinking of Michael Fontenot. oh. wasn't there a 3rd guy in that trade?? Yes, a minor league pitcher who immediately retired.
  9. Last White Sox pitcher to go on DL: Orlando Hernandez, 5/23/05.
  10. I agree unless the end result is Miguel Cabrera or similar.
  11. Pippen, Grant and Rodman were obviously all very good, but I have a feeling you're referring to more than just them.
  12. The Bulls have the brightest future of any team in the league, the Panthers and ND are both expected to compete for titles this fall. I repeat the above to myself every time I see another Cubs rally killed or every time I see a crappy outing by Guzman or the like.
  13. Probably Dempster (assuming Dusty ever uses him again)
  14. Wait, there are other teams who have their pitchers leave games with something as ridiculously vague as "elbow discomfort"? I think the Baseball Gods missed. This was clearly aimed at Z.
  15. How about ranging from a 1 to a 4 throughout your career? Jordan homers are hilarious. I'm glad that I have little rooting interest in basketball so I can see things without any bias and see how ridiculous everybody is about their favorites. I should clarify. Who else can be the best 2 in the league for years, then come back after an absence and become the best 3 in the league for the next few years? (I know, we won't see many other people retire midcareer, but it warrants mentioning)
  16. Why is that? If I weren't a fan I'd still be rooting for the upset. I'm rooting for the Cavs just to see how many ways the talking heads can fall in love with LBJ if he makes it to the ECF. are you saying they don't have a reason to fall in love with him? on a related note, scottie pippen said before the cavs-wizards game that lebron would end up being better than jordan. I'm saying that it's ridiculous how much the media falls over themselves to praise these star players. I can't even imagine MJ playing in this kind of climate. And Pippen is just falling into the idiot climate of stupid statements that abounds on ESPN. Did you see the series he put up? 35.7 PPG on 51% from the field, 7.5 RPG, 5.7 APG to go with two game winners. It's not like this is average performance getting hyped just because he's LeBron. The first game winner was a travel, and the second did not face resistence from even a semblence of defense. That being said, LeBron is an absolutely fantastic player and, at the age of 21, is the second best player in the league today besides Kobe. As one of the biggest Jordan homers of all time, and as someone who used to refer to Lebron as LeBrick James, I don't think Scottie's statement is so ridiculous. In fact, I happen to think Scottie is one of the more insightful commentators on TV. LeBron is nowhere near MJ now, but I think he can get there. He doesn't seem to have MJ's competitiveness, which may keep him from getting there in the end, but talent wise, he has it. MJ's competitiveness was probably 80 percent of what got him to the plateau he is on now, with his talent being 15 percent and luck/circumstance being 5 percent. Without MJ-style competitiveness, no one can be better than MJ. It's simply impossible to be as good as MJ was for 13 years without having an amazing competitive spirit. MJ even changed his entire game later in his career, basically transforming from a high-flying 2 guard to a small forward. Who else can/has done that?

  18. NSBB compulsively jinxes ex-Cubs. A thread talks about Corey's hot streak, boom, baserunning blunder. We miss Mo, boom, he's hurt.
  19. David, Can we endorse you with the nickname "The Aardvark"? Or is there a different name you go by in the clubhouse that you would rather be known as? Hope to see you back with the Cubs soon!
