Pete Prisco somehow managed to find a way to do statistical ratings based on completely arbitrary analysis: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/11812689
Perhaps they have the most wins because they have the most teams, and most opportunity to win. Don't they also have the most losses? Who cares about a battle for 1st on June 1? The central has 2 crappy teams and 4 teams basically playing .500 ball the last couple weeks. Are you serious? The relation to wins and losses does'nt change if the division had 2 teams or 100. We have the most wins because we have won more games over the East and West.. And the other cental teams. I gotta figure you been up all nite or something. The win and loss % in the central is allways 50%....for every win there is a loss. Duh. We have more wins because of the games we play OUT of the division. Now go get some sleep! Again, the NL Central has the most wins because they have the most teams. If you mean to say or imply something else, then do so. A 6 team division averaging 25 wins is going to have more overall wins than a 5 team division averaging 27 wins.
The NL Central has the most wins in the majors overall, with 152. The most losses in the majors overall? Also the NL Central, with 144. However, the AL East is 135-123, for a .523 winning percentage, while the NL Central is 152-144 for a .514 winning percentage.
I would probably say that Monfils is going to be a decent favorite to win this one. He can run down any shot and a real good on clay. Of course if Roddick has his serve going he can win with almost that alone. Either way this is probably going to be a long match. Monfils up a set and a break in the second. Make that two breaks in the second. Roddick is getting smoked.
Federer dropped the first two sets this morning before rallying to beat unseeded Tommy Haas 6-7,5-7,6-4,6-0,6-2. Roddick has yet to play, but if he can beat 11th seed Frenchman Gael Monfils, he'd play Federer next.
Yeah, she was injured all last year and hasn't looked very good since she's been back (I mean, tennis-wise). She really has a good shot to make the semis, though, since Venus Williams was knocked out of her quarter.
i'm actually hoping that roddick wins it, which would be way more amazing. With Djokovic and Nadal out, I'd say this would be Roddick's best shot at one, except that he's in the wrong half of the bracket.
I figure we're overdue for one of these anyway, but... Currently, Rafa Nadal is losing in the 4th round of the French Open to 23rd ranked Robin Soderling 2 sets to 1. The one set he did win was in a tiebreaker.
I don't understand the Blanco hate. He actually is a good defensive SS, and currently the only healthy option to backup SS. He's not leading off, he's not playing every day, he's not killing the offense, the manager doesn't have an unhealthy adoration for him, and he isn't expected to be an all-star by anyone.
Correlation between winning and turning double plays: minimal. Been a real strange year, eh? It's certainly been difficult to get an accurate gauge of where this team's at with all the turnover due to injuries, suspensions and ineptitude.
They probably would have played one game anyway because of the timing of the bye week. The second game is likely because the Big Ten schedule ends so early as it is. I couldn't imagine them playing their last game on November 14. At Cincinnati and home against Fresno St. Not exactly taking it easy either Yeah, it should be quite the non-con schedule next year with Mizzou, Cincy and Fresno State (along with the annual intrastate matchup, this year with Illinois State). Of course, the conference schedule misses Iowa and Wisconsin this year, so they likely needed a boost in SOS.

I'm also glad Huet ended his season on a good game, so there won't necessarily be violent opposition to keeping him on as the #1 next season. The Hawks did better than many expected even coming into the playoffs, and did about as well as expected against Detroit. Stealing another game to force a game 6 probably would have exceeded many expectations for this series, but it just didn't work out. Too many giveaways and odd-man rushes.
Bad night of managing all around, as Haren's start is cancelled from rain, and I leave two 18.5 point starts on the bench. Now, even to get 7 starts I need to bring up Detwiler.
I've said all along I think the Blackhawks could beat anyone but Detroit in a playoff series, and I still think so. Detroit is an awful matchup for the Hawks, to the point where if they can push it to 6 games I'd be surprised.
I'd probably choose one of Evan Longoria, Hanley Ramirez, Tim Lincecum, Albert Pujols, or David Price. I really like Zack Greinke too, but it's difficult to say whether he's finally turned it on, or he's just had a hot month.
