  1. I think the Cubs have enough to worry about without being concerned about the Patrick Kane ordeal.
  2. If Cutler could back it up the Broncos would have been in the playoffs last year. Wait...you don't honestly believe that, do you?
  3. SF's lineup with Sandoval out is abysmal. I regret that trade now that Zimmermann had TJ. I regret nothing! :)
  4. On the spectrum of possible GMs, Stone and Ned are quite close and every one between them would suck as much as they do. And the rest of that idea (which I assume was from one of the radio guys) is stupid. I remember the year Detroit did something like that, bring up a bunch of ex-Tigers to manage the team to put a pretty face on the disappointing team they ran out. That team even managed to win 5 of their last 6 games to avoid setting a record in futility.
  5. SF's lineup with Sandoval out is abysmal.
  6. Garrett Jones in for Ichiro, who gets to be my OF out for this week with a calf strain.
  7. Said it before and I'll say it again: Derek Jeter is not the best baseball player in King's life time (innumerable, but let's just start with Mays, Aaron, Mantle). Derek Jeter is not the best baseball player in King's adult life time (let's say since the 70's...Morgan, Schmidt, Yount, Brett, Ripken). Derek Jeter is not the best baseball player among current players (Pujols, Hanley Ramirez, Utley, Fielder, Dunn). Derek Jeter is not the best baseball player among current AL players (Mauer, Morneau, Cabrera). Derek Jeter is not the best baseball player in his division (Youkilis, Bay, Crawford). Derek Jeter is not the best baseball player on his team (Teixeira, Rodriguez). Derek Jeter is not the best candidate for SS on his team (Rodriguez). Now, it could be argued that he's currently the best SS in his division, but Bartlett and Scutaro are right there with him this year.
  8. I'm not even sure Jeter is the best Yankee SS currently on the team.
  9. The Memphis situation looks more like a UMass than a Gonzaga to me, though.
  10. Memphis is high profile? If Calipari stayed and he had his army of paid 18 year olds there instead of Lexington, the NCAA would've found no wrong-doing. With Calipari gone and Memphis's program an afterthought they were able to actually do something(however pointless it may be) Yes, Memphis is high profile. Three straight elite 8's and a sweet 16 is fairly good. And they'll probably return to the tournament again next year. I don't really even see an argument as to whether Memphis is considered high profile or not. You mean, 2 straight elite eights and a sweet 16.
  11. John Calipari is now the first coach in history to have a Final Four appearance vacated at two different schools: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/story/12087903

    Week 20

NC Cubs at Raw Dawgs Saber Metrics at The Eyes of Texas Valenzuela's Screwballs at Harrys Budcrew Northside Baseball at Quakers Galesburg Hand Sanitizers at Tootielicious Alamo Stealth at Lynx Severe Tooterstorms at Fuzzy Logistics The Fighting Manginos at Tampa Bay Rays Since Raw and Lynx still aren't technically eliminated, that makes 4 matchups this week between teams with playoff aspirations.
  13. Honestly, I understand why Hendry gave Soriano the contract he did. His job was in jeopardy, and he had to do something drastic after 2006 to change perceptions. Soriano wanted a long term deal and nothing else, and Hendry made darn well sure he got him.
  14. Well, after the umpire calls out on fan interference, that guy would be run out of town on a rail worse than Bartman, I'd hope.
  15. I think the biggest reason I wouldn't want Lou gone would be that the replacement would more than likely be either Brenly or Sandberg, and I'd much prefer Lou to either.
  16. The only thing I could think of is to avoid some kind of defamation suit, saying that the story was overblown by the media.

    Golf

Early first round PGA championship action going on now, Tiger Woods currently tied for the lead at -4 with 4 holes to finish up yet on the day. Today's amazing Tiger stat: Since the beginning of 2006, Tiger Woods has a higher winning percentage than 10 different MLB teams.
  18. Wait, wait, wait...Ron Zook is the only Big Ten coach other than JoePa to coach his team to the Rose Bowl?
  19. Howard kills righties though. Howard vs. Gregg is a matchup I do not like.
  20. Gregg in. If the Phillies don't score here, the Cubs HAVE to win.
  21. Color me concerned about someone other than Marshall coming in to face Utley-Howard-Ibanez.
  22. Who else is available? Kosuke is already in, then its Miles, Koyie Hill, Aramis Ramirez (hurt). Am I missing anyone on this horrid bench of ours? Fontenot
  23. So help me, if Theriot sacrifices...
  24. Ramirez being out due to injury and Fukudome being out due to stupidity really hurts the overall lineup.
