  1. Thompson in that deal makes it better for the Phils.
  2. I think McKinney, Contreras, Pierce Johnson, and Tseng is a better deal.
  3. Is it me or is that not very much for Hamels?
  4. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand he just struck out on 3 pitches, swinging at the last 2 out of the zone.
  5. BBaez. 0-2, with a walk and K. He's seen 18 pitches thru 3 PAs though, and only swung and missed at 2 of them.
  6. I think the thing with Hamels is the whole "bird in the hand" scenario. Getting Hamels now is a much better guarantee that you'll have him next year than hoping for a FA SP. You also know Hamels' price. You don't know what Price will cost. And we've seen in recent offseasons that the Cubs put things on hold while they go after big ticket FAs (Lester, Tanaka). Plus, the Cubs are a budget concerned team, therefore even if they go all-in for Price, they have to then regroup to figure out what they have left to do in the budget. If you have Hamels, you have all offseason to figure out what you have left in the budget for other FAs.
  7. Yeah, now the Cubs can blow games in the 8th instead of the 9th. I'd rather use Rondon in the highest leverage spots. Several guys should be able to handle the bottom of the order with a 2-3 run lead. To be fair, today's 9th was the high-leverage spot with Reyes, Arenado and Gonzalez with a 1 run lead. I agree with your hypothesis, though. Still should be someone better than Motte in the 9th. Yeah, I would have been pissed if anyone else pitched the 9th today. But Motte should be good to close out most games. Like the 3-run lead he had 2 days ago. And actually, if you look at the roster, do you really feel more comfortable with Strop (better pitcher but has a few high profile blow ups), Russell, Soriano, or Grimm than you do with Motte, if Rondon is in the highest leverage role?
  8. Bryant hitting .189 over the last 30 days. Starlin Castro thinks Kris is in a slump.
  9. Yeah, now the Cubs can blow games in the 8th instead of the 9th. I'd rather use Rondon in the highest leverage spots. Several guys should be able to handle the bottom of the order with a 2-3 run lead.
  10. Damnit. Beat me. I went to the Pirates game last week and Liriano had 10 Ks thru 4 I believe. Don't think he made it past the 5th.
  11. Lester on pace to break Kerry Wood's K record.
  12. Prediction: you keep posting every random thought that flows through your head since no one in life wants to talk to you. Prove me wrong. I am begging you. you can be annoyed with him without being an [expletive]. Perhaps. Or i can say same thing everyone here is thinking Or you can follow the rules of this board.
  13. GameDay has all those pitches well outside the zone
  14. If it's McKinney and Edwards/Underwood, I'll drive all of them to the airport. I'd rather keep Underwood of those 3 pitchers. But yeah, if that's the deal....why isn't it done yet?
  15. Yeah, my ideal scenario is to trade Castro, keep Baez, trade for Zobrist, and sign him to a 2-year extension. Then finish the year with Zobrist, Baez, and Russell all sharing time in the MIF, with Zobrist having the ability to play OF (Soler struggle, platoon in CF or LF), and backup 1B. In 2016, Zobrist can play several positions as a starter depending on the offseason, as a backup (RH platoon to Coghlan, LH platoon to whoever CF is), or he'd be great insurance in case Baez can't hit ML pitching.
  16. I like Tyson Ross a lot. I like the 2 additional years of control. I like the velocity, Ks, arm talent. I love the undoubted improvement he will show with Bosio in throwing more strikes. But I don't like the thought of trading McKinney AND Torres. Give them 1 and pretty much anything else in the minors they want besides the other (I'd prefer to keep Torres).
  17. Props to the guy with a 1.400 OPS the last week for bunting on the first pitch.
  18. Big inning thru go to 3-4-5 in 11 pitches.
  19. You spelled "years" wrong. And you hit 2 instead of the 5 above it.
  20. Grimm in pen, Hendricks would not have hit. Ah, not watching. That makes sense then. Of course, I still probably would have walked him and faced what likely would have been Herrera from the RH side where he hasn't hit all that much (23 PAs) and it would have set up the GIDP.
  21. Castro is bad. But he's not a pitcher. Stupid move with 1b open.
  22. On my fantasy team. So, yeah I've been all over that. Colorado would have to eat a lot of money though.
