    Eh, he would be nice to have for defense late in the season and potentially in the playoffs. But I wouldn't move anyone on the current 25-man roster for him.

    Guys, I think this offense is real. The Cubs are averaging 4.7 runs with Schwarber in the starting lineup. 3.7 runs without him in the lineup. Of course, his first start was the 17 run game in Cleveland, but without that game, they are at 4.05 runs/game with Schwarber starting and have only scored fewer than 4 runs in 6 of the 20 games he's started.

    I need to step my shirtsey game up. I only have a Kane Blackhawks. I have actual Cubs and Bears jerseys, though my Cubs are both nameless. One is numberless, the other has the #5 from a cheap sale on Cubs.com the year after Nomar left. It was either that or #20 for Corey Patterson. I don't think anyone has worn #5 since.

    FWIW, I'm not really concerned about White. Wasn't a huge fan of the pick at 7, but he'll be fine. We saw Beckham miss camp and the first 4 weeks and lead the league in yards per game. We saw Jeffery miss most of the first half of his rookie year, have a solid 2nd half and really take off in his 2nd year. I think with Jeffery, Royal, Forte, and Bennett; White doesn't have to have a big year for the offense to be successful. Even if he's 100% healthy, there's still a chance he's 5th in terms of receiving options on this team.

    Honestly I think Bryant gets way too much hype. I fell for it too. I bought a Jersey right away. Even JD said on the broadcast that Bryant has some flaws with his mechanics and the league is exposing him. I don't think experience will help there. He actually needs a new batting stance. Turn off your computer.

    Wow, is that a real story? And damn that gets you 7 years?

    I'm a lot worried about Haren against every lineup. Haren has 15 quality starts in 21 starts (and only 2 disaster starts). But his peripherals suggest that he could get bombed at any moment. Doesn't strike out many anymore. Walks aren't horrible, but doesn't exactly have pinpoint control. And 2:1 FB:GB ratio. He will forever scare me when he takes the mound unless he channels his former self of about 10 years ago.

    Not yet. They said that even tho both teams have Sept. 14th off and then start a 3 game series in Pitt on the 15th that would result in Pitt playing 30 or more games in a row and that the league/MLBPA would have to approve and Pirates players would have to vote on it for that to happen. Sounds like a DH may be more likely. Crazy. I don't see any other postponements on the Pirates schedule. The 14th looks like the only scheduled off day they were given all of September.

    I can't possibly give that title to anything but the massacre in Cleveland. Schwarber game is second. "importance" of this one does give it a little more boost than it otherwise would have, tho Nah, this is more realistic and representative of what this team can do. They aren't going to put up 17 again. Not too many guys are going to have signature games to win in dramatic fashion. But this is a game that could realistically happen several more times, including in the playoffs.

    Yay. My favorite game of the year! Everyone contributed (for the most part), Castro/Soler with big hits/ABs. Arrieta arrieting.
