  1. It's tough when 2/3 of the 3-4-5 are MIA. It's going to be really hard to mount any consistent offense with that being the case.
  2. And thank you so much Dear Leader Ricketts for allowing us to pursue him.
  3. That's the thing about the Brewers. They put the ball in play and good things happen. The Cubs hitters aren't even giving themselves a chance.
  4. It might as well be Moses. It won't make any difference.
  5. Cubs MVP's of this series are all long relievers. That should tell you everything you need to know about how things are going.
  6. It's unfortunate because we saw what it meant to Happ for the team to be back in the playoffs, but he has been absolutely awful. Outside of the garbage time home run, he hasn't done a thing the entire postseason.
  7. Don't tell Ron Darling that. This offense is a sleeping giant with no weaknesses 1 through 9.
  8. If there's any reason for optimism, Taillon has been the Cubs best pitcher of late. Put it on his shoulders at Wrigley and try to get back in the series.
  9. What I meant to say is, the players usually get the short end of the stick. Public opinion tends to side with the owners and the players are much more likely to settle for less.
  10. One of those should probably be a Nico extension, but I'm not sure how the work stoppage might impact that decision.
  11. I don't think it's really going to matter what the players want.
  12. What is with the camera angles on this broadcast? Andrew Vaughn in the first inning either hit a routine fly ball to left field, or a 440 foot home run, but the cameraman sure didn't know which one it was.
  13. It's more the looming prospect of a salary cap, which presumably would reduce future contracts for guys like Tucker. So get the money now while you can.
  14. Absolutely, and that's what I meant. The Cubs weren't going to re-sign him regardless, but now Jed and Tom can stand behind it being the right baseball decision to let him walk and nobody can really argue with that. They were going to do the wrong thing for the wrong reasons. Now it's the right thing and the reason no longer matters.
  15. I'll take "how to make a relatively easy catch look hard" for 100, Alex.
  16. Injured or not, it sucks that Kyle Tucker has completely let Ricketts off the hook. Nobody will even bat an eye when the Cubs let him walk.
  17. I was looking forward to going Thursday Something about counting your chickens...
  18. Especially after how well the Cubs played in the last series against the Brewers. But the stakes are a bit difference this time around.
  19. Maybe this will light a fire under Tom and Jed's asses. Who am I kidding? Stay the course, win 90 games, and try to eek into the playoffs again.
  20. They have been doing it both ways. They were also really overselling the Cubs offense as if the second half of the season never happened.
  21. It honestly felt like the Cubs just had to escape that first inning with the lead and then settle in, but they couldn't do it.
  22. You are probably right, as long as the top of the rotation can stay healthy. He was never going to be a real top of rotation starter, but that isn't what he was signed for.
  23. So we finally get an exciting fireballing 102 mph throwing reliever in Palencia, just in time for other teams to up the ante to 104 mph guys.
