  1. Are we getting to the point where Imanaga's affordable team option is now in question?
  2. If the Wrigley wind ever reverts back to what it was in the past, Shota is going to give up 40 HR's in a season.
  3. Why exactly are the Brewers going with a bullpen game in Game 2 when they have had like 17 days to prepare their rotation? I understand Woodruff is hurt, and maybe it's the right thing to do, but do they really not have another starter who can take the ball?
  4. I'm not even mad at Shota. Two dink hits followed by the one home run. I'm more pissed about Andrew Vaughn somehow becoming a superstar player.
  5. They are really searching for stories if this is one of them. How does what music is played in the stadium during warmups impact anyone at all? Is there some hatred of classic rock now that I don't know about?
  6. Starting Rae is absolutely not waving the white flag. Baseball is baseball and, on any given day, Colin Rae can beat Paul Skenes. Is it a game the Cubs would have been likely to win? No, but neither was Boyd on short rest.
  7. But they took their best option for Game 2 and turned him into a non-option.
  8. We're getting ahead of ourselves here, but maybe the Cubs look to trade Kelly. Having two very good hitching catchers is a luxury that few, if any, teams have and maybe the Cubs can capitalize on Kelly's outstanding season and team friendly contract to fill another hole.
  9. I don't think you can keep his bat in Iowa any longer. He needs to be seeing big league pitching at this point, and the Cubs just might have to let him learn to catch on the fly.
  10. Then what would you do with Seiya, who has been one of the team's best hitters? I do think Mo is a quality hitter who is only going to get better, but there just isn't a spot for him right now.
  11. Exactly why Jed won't do it, and perhaps rightfully so. But that doesn't stop me from wanting him!
  12. I'm just sitting here sulking in this performance (although the series is far from over) and thinking, I really want Schwarber next year. I know Jed won't do it, but give me that elite power bat in the lineup.
  13. Be careful what you wish for. Counsell might give you Taillon on 3 days rest.
  14. He's going to be smoking in the tunnel by the 5th inning.
  15. I don't always love Jed's approach, but it has actually worked for the bullpen. Same thing with the rotation, I would certainly prefer the Cubs go out and get a TOR arm, but his "bargain bin" staff has performed well this season. The unfortunate reality is, they are without 2 of their top 3 starters right now, and it shows.
  16. I assume based on the trade market, teams had to give up more value than they were getting back, which by definition would be an overpay.
  17. That delivery looked like a balk to me.
  18. Because they had a better, cheaper option in-house. Now they get to have it both ways, hating the guy who left and loving the guy who stayed.
  19. At least our garbage time long relief guy gave us... Checks notes... 1 inning
  20. I honestly can't remember the last time I've seen a manager reacting like Counsell right now. Every time the camera is on him, it looks like he is in complete agony.
  21. How early can we deploy the position player pitcher?
  22. Pitchers have bad games. Probably not worthy of writing him off for the rest of his career.
  23. So out of character, and that only happens because he was trying to do too much to compensate for his pitcher getting shelled.
